Turning off my firewall has now completely fixed my "connection problem".

Why that works is unclear; it could be a RAM, port, or pb check issue. Running without a firewall isn't recommended, but it's the only way I can play without constant connection warnings and disconnects.

Hope this helps someone else.

Same here. I MAY have fixed it by turning sound quality to low (EAX still activated, don't know if there even is EAX on low).

Why that should fix a connection problem is beyond my understanding

Try this solution from SnipingCoward. Worked for me. Ignore the fact that it's for a Belkin router - I have a US Robotics and it worked.

Connection

Sgt. C do you have the solution to the problem when it kicks you for no reason back to the server list and says connection to the server has been lost it only does it to some servers, other servers are fine. plz get back to this!

Yeah, it seems that this solved mine too - but I am not sure completely.
I followed these instructions: BF2S Forums / OMFG "Your connection to the server has been lost.": downloaded the tool imagecfg.exe and let it modify my bf2.exe
Everything works fine - i thought... now I can play for several minutes and PunkBuster kicks me out: bf2.exe mismatch
This game is realy driving me mad. Maybe s.o. could upload his orginal, unmodified bf2.exe to help me out.

Greets,
s!x

Emnyron wrote:This fix only for dualcore&Quadcore systems:
Try opening upp the taskmanager after you have started the game and logged in to your account.
Then select the Bf2 and its related Prossesses (e500 and pr) and set theyr afinity to just Cpu0.
This solved my connection problems completely!
A similar approach which did the trick (at least for me) with disconnects, and which also solved some massive performance issue in combination with 2xopteron(dualcore):

1. add the /usepmtimer switch to your boot.ini - works for XP/W2k3:
(use at your own risk; at least make a backup version of the boot.ini before altering)

example altered boot.ini

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\Windows="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /usemptimer

2. set pb_sleep 500 (default 60; max. 500)

Secondly, try the Cpu trick, it does not give ANY drop in preformance what so EVER..
Well... yes, your'e right...
Secondly, it was the CPU trick: the file modified the bf.exe in such a way that it sets the CPU trick automatically. But as I said... Punkbuster (strangely it doesn't kick me out on TacticalGamer).

Now, that I have back the old (unmodiefied) BF2.exe, it happens again! I can't get rid of this damn problem. It's even worse this time. I'm getting kicked about every two minutes, even I checked only one CPU-core (manually), disabled my router firewall, my personal and my antivir-network-protection...

I really don't know why I'm getting this bug...

Ares640 wrote:For me, it happens after i've been in a server for 45 mins. I've timed it several times, and after 45 mins from the time I click "Join Game" I get automatically dropped from the game. I have updated PB, using the lastest patch and I do not use wireless internet. My internet connection is working perfectly, my firewall is not interfering.. I just dont know what the problem is. Regardless of server, even on vanilla BF2, after 45 mins of being on a server, I get dropped =/
I got the same problem here. Playing 45-55 mins. without any problem, then it drops me back to the menu with a popup "Your connection to the server...". When I connect to the same server again, I have my scores still there.

What I did:
- Tested many different routers
- Tested other network card
- I even formatted my PC and made a new BF2 Profile
- My ISP connected my line to another switchport

Nothing helped, I still loose SERVERconnection (Internetconnection is still there) after about 45-55 mins.

Any new hints or solution?

i fixed my issue

I played BF2 always on 64bit Windows XP sp2, i reformate the otherday back too Windows XP 32bit and once i restalled PR i lost connections from the server 2-3 mins after entering the game.

I restalled 32bit windowns agine thinking maybe i got a bad install, same issue.

Restalled back too Windows XP 64bit and no connection issue what so ever.

So if you have 64bit Windows give it a try.

My connection problem starts ones I choose a site. It starts to gather resources, and quits about 1/5 of the screen and blanks out. That is, it doesn't show B2F anywhere as it stops the program cold. I have the latest modes, installs went perfect, and even rebooted after each install. Also, I have a AMD Quad PHenom 9600 Quad-Cord, with 2.31 GHZ and 3G of Ram

What's the solution?

Okay sorry for rezzing this but:

After I load a map, its normal for 3 seconds, then connection problems come ups and shortly booted to menu.

I have tried ESC trick and, it does not work (Nor does pb_sleep 500 or nickbond's suggestion earlier)

Strangely, it only happens with servers over 40 Players.
Rico11b: Better than that just take the body out of the game all together, and we'll have floating heads in game.
