Dirt Bikes in BF2?

Lots of regular units use them, usually recce elements. What better tool for quick nimble scouting than a dirt bike? I've seen plenty of pictures from Iraq and Afghanistan (think Afghanistan is more common... more hills) with Royal Marines on the things. I don't think they'd fit into the scale of battles or the sort of engagements you'd expect in PR though, unless they manage to make the maps far larger and be able to chose your force size and hardware more according to the enemies strength. Actually that could be an interesting SP/COOP mode, random AI enemy strength and spawn locations and you have to work out where they are and what you need to get the job done, and have a certain number of "tickets" to spend on resources (like in reality, they wouldn't send in a full scale combined assault for two blokes in a jeep with an AK and some bubble gum between them).

I think it's a good idea. It doesn't have to be chuck norris delta force style with guns and rockets. Just a plain ol dirtbike. Imagine the uses.
A sniper grabs one and runs to the top of the hill to provide troop movement info to SL's and the commander. He can advise which route to take, and not to take.
Sure you can do that anyways, but with a bike, it allows you to reach certain points faster.

The idea isn't that bad, at least for special forces. I don't know if you guys are willing to create a whole special forces team(SAS, SEALS, DELTA, watever) along with mission based maps for em, but that would be a nice addition if you guys did do all of this. Personally, I would love to see a whole special forces team that has an objective like blowing up a critical point on a power station or capturing some documents.
If a whole seperate team was made, and maps to, it would be cool if it was,on a 64 player server, 13-17 special ops(2-3 squads and one officer) against a massive enemy team.

This is the company that refits Kawasaki KLR650 to diesel for the military.
I would like to try one myself (96 MPG!).
I don't see it as a vehicle in PR. Even if a sidecar was added. Unless you spawn enough for everyone, lol. With AAS in place there isn't much use for a small fast vehicle to sneak into a base behind the lines.

Do you see a full team of SF, rangers or AFSO in PR? No you dont.Deuce6 wrote:SF, Rangers, Air Force Special Operations, etc. It IS reality.
You just think its cool, yet it has no place in PR esp when there are so many other things that would actually add some realism to this mod.
A dirt bike is fluff that wont improve the mod overall in its theme.

Haven't we already seen ATVs in the Special Forces Expansion. I think we need some 1 person rapid vehicles because it stops people feeling compelled to drive a jeep to a point with 3 other people in and also stops people kicking a jeep and driving off bizarely!
And why not set up some Halo insertion points whilst where at it?! There was a map in BFV where there was a spawn chopper where you just bailed out, what about a Hercules flying over and over...

The ATV for PR is already modeled and skinned. Check out the Media section once in a while.

Isn't that a bit... against what we'd want?the_ultimate_maverick wrote:I think we need some 1 person rapid vehicles because it stops people feeling compelled to drive a jeep to a point with 3 other people in
What I see in that is "We shouldn't encourage people to use as much teamwork." Maybe I got it wrong, but that's definately not what we should be pushing for in PR.
