technical Recoiless

Post by [EC]DR.NOobFragger »

Sorry if this has been suggested, I did a search and I looked through 3 pages and I didn't really see anything, but I would like to suggest a Technical with a Recoilless rifle or some kind of AT weapon on it, kinda like the one in Desert Combat, Maybe make it kill APCs in 3 hits and have no iron sights or something to balance it out some.

The 50 cal can destroy the miltia and UK saxon apc. It has no deviation to it, Ive not noticed any recoil either.
Also there is the tow hummer on some maps, in the past I even saw an AA hummer in pr

Technical + RPG Gunners = Fragfest. :D

Not needed in my opinion, these things aren't very common in Iraq/Afghanistan so I'd stick to the RPGs.

I do believe the Paras in Sangin faced Chinese 108mm or 82mm recoiless rifles, can't remember the exact caliber but it comes from the book, 3PARA. So they are used and would prove to be quite a dangerous weapon.

If you're thinkin a technical/recoiless albeit BHD movie (dont slaughter me) than i believe it has been suggested before, however i still think it would be a great addition to the militia/insurgents so they have something else to combat the APCs/Tanks.

I suggested this back in .4 and then brought it up again before .6 and I still am not sure why but it has always been shut down. I think it would be a great addition especially for the Milita because of the weapon's effectivenesses against Rocket-resistant vehicles like APCs.

I agree. IMHO the only mod that ever had it did it wrong. IE Desert Combat made the Recoiless rifle pointless and many players just avoided them because the gun was utter ****.

IE real life recoiless rifles can take down the fallowing vehicles with little effort:

LAV-25
LAV-300
HMMWV
T-55
T-72
T-62
UAZ
GAZ
BTR-90
BTR-80
Choppers
M1A2 Bradly
M6 Bradly Linbacker

They are vary usefull and in the right hands pure death to older tech. IE it may not place a dent in a M1A2 SEP, or the British tanks, but a Scorpion, or even the Warrior would not be able to take more then 2-3 shots before death.

IE it is most often loaded with AT rounds, or as the more modern version load a shell mutch like the modern AT rounds in use in T-90s. The spear that rips through tank armor is deadly. As for real life use:

Used in the fallowing conflicts:

Golf War
Iraq
South East African Civil War: Ended 2000, now back in full swing as of late 2008
Sumalia
Afghanistan

Many of these are places we are fighting in PR. So why not toss in a few here or there?

I'd be down if they could code a lethal blast area behind the gun.

I'd agree recoiless rifles would add alot to this, especially for the insurgents, not so much the militia cause they get field guns.
I'd doubt one would take out an Abrams, or any modern tank with the same type of armor for that matter. It might demobilize the tanks, but completely destroy, no.
Maybe put it on a truck, thats slow moving possibly? To say that the ammo is heavy, or you can put it on a fast one, with not much ammo.

Well you should get a choice between HE, and AT rounds like they do in real life. AT round for killing APCs, and Jeeps, as well as a low flying chopper or two, and HE rounds for blowing up infnatry. The problem is the rounds for these guns are pritty big and heavy, about as long as my tall as my legs: I'm at 5 foot 8. Thats a big round but it's fast to load open the breach and lock it in and your done loading and ready to fire.

SO to compansate so light vehicles don't get the snot kicked out of them make the truck only carry 14 rounds total. IE enough for 7 AT, and 7HE rounds. Also we would need the correct sights for it as well so long range shooting is possable.

Another thing is a mortor truck would work well for Insurgents, and milita. That way they have a bigger target then the other armies have.

Yeah the scimitar gets killed surprisingly quickly by a .50 cal.

I thought I would bring up this idea now that .8 has been released with the new insurgent modes with Strykers. Any thoughts on possibly adding perhaps a single technical with a recoiless rifle on the new maps?

Found this example of one used by Somali forces.
