Insurgency v2

Post by gclark03 »

I've already posted this idea in the Insurgent equipment thread on this page, but I regret it - there was no way to make it fully pertinent to the thread, so I created this thread in order to free the equipment thread of my spam.

This idea involves several things:
1. Allow only two spawn kits - Civilian and Militant.
2. Use the kit limiting system to randomize the kits requested from caches.
3. Give the Insurgent kits more varied weaponry, like the FAL and M16.
-----
The reasoning behind #1 is that a real insurgent would be, to put it simply, some guy with a rifle. He would probably grab whatever weapon he could from a cache in order to kill some Western scum - not choose from some menu. Limiting the spawn kits would give the player two easy options: play civilian, or play grunt.

In randomizing kits using the QM system, the Insurgents are allowed a far wider choice of kits than pick-up kits can allow, because of the space limitations of the current system. However, the QM could only be used within 25m of a cache, and only some kits are issued at the assorted Insurgent rallies. I would imagine that, in real life, some kind of leader would assign weapons to the insurgents; the QM is the best representative we have.

By giving the Insurgents other, non-Russian weapons (probably without scopes), we can give the Insurgents incentive to change their style of play and learn to fight with what they have. Some weapons might be overkill, some might not be powerful enough for Insurgents - testing would be needed, and I'm willing to learn how to stitch this idea together myself so that we can see exactly how it would work in live play.

I agree, but I think that the Insurgent Officer kit should be like that of Forgotten Hope(1) US Marine Engineer kit, where it is random, you can get a Carbine, or a shotgun....although it usually turned out carbine still, it was fun when you got the shotgun. If the Insurgent officer was a random weapon between the Ak 101 and say, a captured Sa85 or something like that, that would be cool. Of course the Ak101 is most common, but say the Sa85 or an Sa85A2 so that for the most part the foreign fighters have brought(or bought) AK101s, but some have captured SA**s. Good suggestion I think! :D

the question is, if random kits are actually possible, but i guess i know someone how could give the answer, the guy how made the wookie sniper mod, a nice little sniper mod with a fully new spawnmenu and I'm almost sure that his system could also prevent random kits

1:Average idea, like how it is now better
2:hardcoded(I'm pretty sure)
3:They mostly use the AK-47 and other types of Ak's due to cheap price on Black Market. There also the most common in the current era of INS.

I worry that we dont give the militia/insurgent factions enough credit. Sure they arent a first world, world power military, but they do know what they are doing, most I would say have their own rifle or one they tend to use more frequently... I *think* its not so grab *** as some would think... I think they should still spawn with a basic set of kits rather than limit them to simply the civy and ins.

Surely there must be some kind of cohesion for ammo reasons if you're operating away from an easy supply you'd want as much stuff of the same calibre as possible, making captured NATO stuff of little use if your standard weapon is the AK series?

Just a thought

I'm guessing that the insurgents don't rely as heavily on AKs as we might think - if it kills the enemy, as far as I know, they use it. If you want details, I'm the wrong person to ask, unfortunately.

How would they get a modern rifle? Most counrty's now when ever a soldier falls pick him and his rifle. To stop that from happening.

I remember reading about leader of terrorist organization called Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and he said that they have only one M16 (scoped) captured from Israel's army (and its not even used for combat but mainly for propaganda purposes)
