[Model & Animation] Frankenstein AK101

Post by DeltaFart »

Ok, this is my first real stab at the modelling community. I'm dropping my work on animating the bolt action rifles better so I'll just leave that ill I get better.
FOr this project, I'm frankensteining the AK101.
Here's my changes so far:
Image
New magazine. I got tired of the idiotic taped together mags, I tried just eliminating the upside mag and tape, but that would have been too much work, too many faces to account for and replace when the tape was erased. So I just loaded up the AKS74U and erased everything but the magazine and slipped that in place. Depending on how I decide the animation will go, I might halve it and mirror it so that the ribs are in the model.

Oh yeah I forgot that I gave it a new butt. I thought I like the look of the AKSU butt and decided to add that to it also.
Well it turns out when I shut it down without saving(i had done something I didnt want to, making the receiver red lines) and have to start out from no mag and no butt.
Image
Though I'd say it'd make a damn fine pistol :D
Id say I plan on making the butt flow a bit more, maybe animation wise, give it one like the AKSU for deploy, than the AK47 reload for its new one mag. We'll see I guess

good try. It's stuff like this that gets you learning! The video does not work for me, but anyway the butt is nice, just make sure to base it off an actual picture. other then that good luck!

Another suggestion: A 90 degree gas-block as opposed to the 45 that it currently has.

Found the render screen :D
IM having difficulty with animating I think I'm going to have to make a new animation for this thing, the defualt makes the mag pop out in funny places
Also plan on just dropping this until later and making a pistol or something
looking for tutorials

ok, I'm going to have to drop this until I learn some stuff, I've downloaded a bunch of tutorials from this one site that have very high quality model makers doing the tutorials
