Increased draw distance/run while aiming

Post by lonelyjew »

I don't feel like making two seperate threads so here are my two suggestions:

1. I'm tired of only seeing 200m in front of me. This limit to the draw distance makes it impossible for the sniper/sharpshooter/marksmen or whoever will replace the sniper in the future to truly be used to his full effect. Not only this, but it would be very nice to have realistic ranged firefights where nade launchers and possible in the future mortars could be used to their full effect. You guys did do it for armored vehicles when they zoom so would it be possible to increase the distance for infantry all the time(or at least while they aim).

2. It would be great if you guys could make it so players could run while aiming down their guns sights. I don't meen a full sprint off course, but you shouldn't have way too much trouble running while keeping your gun up. Maybe this would take up your stamina, though if regular running doesn't neither should this(though you still would have to hold your sprint key). While running your accuracy would still be pretty bad, though you would be able to adjust to firing far faster then if you had been running with your gun down. What you lose for doing this is much of your pereferal vision making it harder to notice the enemy at your side.

hmm.. even still its VERY hard to move past a 'shuffle' with your sights up, you wil end up have the gunsight jump allover the place, and failing that get hit in the eyesocket with it often :)

There is a "swaying" of the sights while you walk, this could just be increased by a lot. I know you've seen swat officers enter a building, they rush in with their sights up, why shouldn't a soldier? Like I said, the only benefit to this would be to adjust much quicker to get an accurate shot off faster then the guy who had to pull his gun up and line up the sights. Maybe a longer delay to pulling up your gun should be added so you don't perfectly allign your sights the instant you have your gun at eye level.

When the hip accuracy is taken down this would help a lot while fighting in close quarters.

EDIT*
I forgot to say, for the longer draw distances, imagine Oasis where you could see beyond a few hills. It would be much more of a fragfest, but it would be a pretty damn realistic fragfest. The hillsides would become your best friend, a good spotters would be essential.

Agreed I don't know of many soldiers or officers that go into an unknown area with their weapon down at their side. Wether they are moving slow or at a quickened pace the weapon is always at the ready. I think its a good suggestion about the run/walk while sighted, maybe have it like it is now when walking but at a quicker pace while sprinting but it takes your stanima away a litter quicker than just sprinting because it would take more concentration to keep your weapon trained on a target while moving quickly.

As a bonus you might even be able to mod in the regular unsighted stance as your weapon barrel down in a comfortable carrying position but would not beable to fire (lets face it when walking around no one has their weapon cheeked and ready to fire all the time) and when you go to ironsights the movement speed slows or you could "sprint" to move a little quicker. So this would make it that to fire you need to sight your weapon or your just carrying it.

what do you all think? I feel thats pretty realistic cause nobody really fires a weapon from the hip anyways, well not trained soldiers. and it could help with the prone spamming too a bit :-D

Firing from the hip should always be an option. In extreme close combat situations, a soldier wouldn't hesitate to use his weapon from that stance.

Hopefully, if you were allowed to move with your gun up this wouldn't be so much of a problem. You guys are changing it so that firing at the hip will result in insane innacuracy right?

Thats another good option make it that if you fired from the hip you would only be effective out to about 20-30 meters, so you would still have it as a backup fire mode if someone poped out around a corner, but would still be at a disadvantage because of bad accuracy (you would be startled) which would train you to move and keep your ironsights trained towards danger areas, instead of just walking or sprinting upto a corner.
