Well, its certainly better than what I can do :) . Youre ound to make mistakes however, with only 1 reference pic. I think you should find a variety of pics from different angles and work from there.

Just a quick one rather then using so many objects (ie you have like 5 diffrent objects making up the barrel) Try working with hight sigments and extrutions... That being said tho its getting there and i cant wait to see how it looks when its done

HangMan: BF2 Editor, it has very strict limitations memory wise, and crashes all the time. Its like a girl. Treat it with respect and take it slow and you'll get places. Rush and get ahead of yourself and it will turn around and punch you in the mouth

I'd highly recommend taking a single cylinder and sculpting the barrel from it. that way there wont be a lot of faces and cylinder ends (whith a lot of triangles on!!!) we never see. It is not very efficient to say the least.

I'm pretty sure I did a video tutorial about something like this some time back. I'll see if I can dig it up.

It's the variant of the GPMG that gets mounted on armored vehicle cupolas and helicopter door mounts. Usually see it with double-spade grips, though. The US equivalent would be the M240D (formerly M240E1).

BTW Tomato_With_A_Rifle, the tomato in your signature has what appears to be two revolvers not a rifle.

What's the point of this really? It seems as though an the EoD modeller, who did PR's M14 and is now apparently a reservist in the Canadian Army, is doing a FN MAG model for the Canadian forces community mod. This model can be modified far more easily then starting afresh. Wouldn't such talent be better spent say, redoing some of the more awful vBF2 weapons that are in PR or doing the modifications?

EDIT: That may have come off a bit harsh but the facts still remain. Also, having one model which all the variants are based off (ie dismounted version, helicopter mounted version, cupola mounted version etc) is going to look a whole lot better if it is based off one model. Take the current M16A2 with an UGL that is in PR. It doesn't fit with all the other M16A4's which are based on a different model.

Frankly, I think having a modeller that's also in the British Army can only be a good thing.
As advice, watch the Glock Tutorial which I think you can find in the tutorials section somewhere around here. It will, at least, help you with some bits that are common between the Glock and that MG but it should also give you a good idea about how modeling weapons works.
Practice makes perfect!
This signature is here due to lack of imagination.

My thoughts exactly, no offence Undies. :-)

Sarge also made a M240D version of it.

Its cool, i'll welcome critisism, i'm not here for a pat on the back :)
I am purely trying to get into modelling and decided on L37 first.

This is purely a learning process for me :) And it will never appear in anything other than a few screenies.

What i have learned so far is it is a long and drawn out process!!!

Yeah it's coming together a bit now, seem to have taken a different approach to most other modellers. Adding stuff bit by bit, rather then chipping away at a block of solid model :p
