Worth Installing Again?

Post by Thalin »

Hey all,

Well I used to be a regular PR player back in 0.5, I really enjoyed Muttrah City in particular, mainly for the team work, having squads of players on the choppers attacking different sides of the map together, that kind of thing. I must admit I lose interest and found the game so boring at the 0.6 stage, because of the large, dull maps, and nothing really happening (no disrespect to the devs). There was a desert map in particular, I remember it being very large and various bases placed around protected by barbed wire. I did like some of the maps though, one had a lake in the middle and it was great fun ambushing APCs in the forests on either side of the road.

I was wondering what the state of the game was now. Is Muttrah still there? What kind of maps are there? I'm wondering whether I would enjoy it again, because I want to!

check here for "Muttrah's status" ;)
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f12-pr ... views.html

The big large desert map your on about is called "Kashan Desert", its still in PR, with also one other very large, but woodland (brit vs PLA) map called "The Battle for Qinling" which plays some what different to kashan but its still large (thou it has more focused combat). Thous are the only two very large, 4km^2 maps in PR.

There are a bunch of new medium sized maps, like fools road you may like, but at the end of the day you will just have to try the new version for a few hrs to see if you like it or not, make sure you read the player guide before hand how ever since alot has changed since v0.5 or v0.6 ;)

Just wanted to say that was funny as anything, as a PR Dev, I still found it mega funny mate, and hope to see more soon.

I am not having a go at the quality of the mod... well ok yes I am. Apparently you've made it even harder recently.

Not harder, just more realistic, but we are going to make 2 versions shortly, Hardcore, and Lite, so you get the best of both worlds
o_O I asume that was a joke?

I maintain that its Chris Moyles on that vid!

Reinstall mate, find some old friends of yours and give it a go!

Plenty of good changes have happened, and more good changes are on the way. OFC, there is a new learning curve to get up.

Where did you get those quotes?

A Hardcore and a Lite version? What the hell! We already have a Hardcore and a Lite version. PR Hardcore IS regular PR, and the PR Lite is Vanilla BF2.

So what now, are a few Devs wanting to split up themselves and the PR community with a Lite version and a Hardcore version of PR? POE 2 could be considered a PR Lite version I suppose. Surely that is a joke, surely. It must be a joke, it has to be.

Only way I would prefer it is, if they were to REALLY crank up the REALISM on the hardcore version. I mean if you are going to make divide then make it wide.

I don't think that would ever happen though. We would just end up with what we have now, and a Vanilla bf2 version that does a bit more damage with weapons.

Sounds like a cop-out to me.

Sorry, forgot to write it. Its from the video comments at youtube. Could have been someone else using a dev's name to confuse people, a dev kidding or true.

What this... A leak has been detected, and the cover-up begins. :) lol

This has got more drama than an episode of ER.

HAhaha I enjoy listening to Europeans snap while playing PR. Fake or not that was worth watching. Something about that accent that gets me everytime. Thank you. After a shot of bad news I watched that an instantly forgot about my problems for a short time. Now I want to travel to the U.K. or Scotland and get a local resident started on a subject that one might hate while enjoying a brew at a pub.

Yea I dont know how paul is not cracking up constantly...

Anyways, heres some videos of the latest PR: YouTube - Project Reality v0.75 - Infantry gameplay action PART 1

Things have changed ALOT since v0.5 and quite a bit since v0.6. I recommend joining tacticalgamer.com, tcombat.com or tactics&teamwork.... player attitudes vary widely from server to server and time, keep that in mind.

Its definitely worth a download just to see all the new vehicles and guns in action, whether youll like the gameplay or not, well everyone has their own opinion so youll just have to try it out to see...
