game lenghts, increase, please

Post by casualtyUR »

Some of these battle are the most fun. Could the tickets be increased to longer battles.
Sure the Oilfields, Zanda, Dang...whatever would remain the same, but add to the map which people are starting to enjoy the most.
1. One of the criticisms are the map size longer battle could allow time to move across map.
2. As a squad leader trying to think of way to assault a base, longer battle would give time to work different ideas.
3. It ways intense when a base switches hands many times, just tink of a the great battles there.
4. You guys may have to do away with the uncapable bases, too depressing to be killed at uncap base for 20 minutes.
5. In the days of BF2 Demo, one server would have ticket of 1000 or more. Great times.
6. Personally, having a short battles are frustrating, you figure out the map, enemy placements and the game ends.

when ticket counts are very high, the penelty for death is nulified. people will play more like vanilla. also, when the bleed gets out of hand and the difference in tickets between both teams is huge, people stop playing as hard and with intelligence.

honestly, i would like, as an experiment, to see how matches would go if starting tickets would be reduced compared to what they are now. maybe half? my guess is that people would play more cautiously and matches would be much closer in the end.

I would bet the oposite would happen acadian. I think players would rush the spawns in the hopes of killing the other team and then taking the flags before the other team can respawn. Would be interesting to see though.

What if we do away with respawn entirely? One round = one life. Both for personell and for vehicles. What is dead and destroyed remains so until end of round. The dead soldier kits lying around on the ground stays around to the end of the round, to "facilitate" scavenger tactics.

Yes, this is evil but I would not hesitate to try it out. And come to think about it, it's pretty disgustingly realistic. You have to avoid just wasting your life, but instead try to ensure that any "death" on your behalf "pays off" (that you take a few enemies down with you). Suicide attacks can still take place, but they are far more drastic sacrifices. A Spec-op can with a suicide C4 attack blow up multiple enemy armored vehicles, vehicles that will NOT respawn. Hm... maybe suicide attacks would be more common? Or maybe not, most likely the spec-op will end up being shot trying to get to the enemy vehicles.

Needless to say, in a game with no respawn as I describe above, most of the rounds I will get killed without taking down a single enemy. That's the life with a K/D ratio barely over 0.4 ;) .

Best regards

I realy like the Idea of having one "Life" per round. If the medics could still revive you that would be an awsome idea.

Having one life wouldn't suit this game at all since it will solely benifit the players in vehicles on the 32 player servers. Infantry and players without any vehicles would just be decimated in teh levels with hardly any cover like Dragon Valley, Fushe, or Zatar. My suggestion would be to have the 16 player versions of the maps have higher ticket counts so they would last as along as the 32 player ones. Those last pretty long and one flag could turn the tide of the game in them.
