SAW with optics
I did a check of the allready posted topics thread and I searched for this topic. Please forgive me if this has allready been posted.
In many military operations, the SAW is equipped with otpics. Should this be implemented into the game?

Re: SAW with optics
No, would be unbalanced for MEC, China, INS and others. And its used for a base of fire not a 200 round sniper kit.
Oh and Mescaldrav, nice spam post.

Re: SAW with optics
Actually most of the videos that I have seen, SAW gunners do have some kind of optics, I'm not sure what the zoom capability's of them are, but I know they exist. Anyways, it would unbalance the game a bit, but I really have no preference.

There's one in his sig ^^^!
Although I think those would be canadians, owing to the elcan sight. Adding a scope to one machine gun would mean doing it to all of them, which wouldn't be realistic.

Re: SAW with optics
don't know about the qbz support, but im pretty sure the hk21 can mount optics

definately realistic for us/gb/ca armies though
mmm...m249+EOTech or Elcan (don't see many with ACOG)

Re: SAW with optics
strangely they seem to often have Eclans *sp i would have though ACOGs would be used.xW0LFx wrote:Im thinking most SAWs are equipped with aimpoints, not full fledged scopes

Re: SAW with optics
begin rant
omg not this stupid, waaaa it wont be fair, suck it up life is not fair and war is the most unbalanced thing you can find.
this is project reality, if it isnt hardcoded/wouldnt totaly fck up gameplay then why not put it in? btw there is this new thing called asymmetrical balance, i remember a poll that asked what the community wanted, iirc everyone wanted asymmetrical balance.
end rant;
ok so now look at it this way, the m249 shoots a 5.56mm ball round, now the hk21 shoots a 7.62mm round, the 5.56mm round has 1500ft-lbs of energy at 0 feet, the hk21 has around 3500 ft-lbs, the 7.62 has a higher bc then the 5.56 round the m249 fires, so this means it will slow down faster/lose energy faster.
so what do you think now? is it balanced now, it kinda looks like the hk21 is better...

Re: SAW with optics
If you don't keep it balanced its not fun for others. yes it Project Reality but it still needs to be fun. Hence why the AC-130 is not in. And the hk and SAW both don't have scope, same range, and everything.

Re: SAW with optics
1: It wouldn't be completely unbalanced as long as you use your heads. If you are on MEC and are against USMC. Use surpression more. Also, the M16 only has a 1 shot and triple shot burst mode. The chinese rifle has both auto and single shot. The auto mode for the chinese gun is effective against infantry up until about 100 meters. Props to Zangoo for explaining Assymetrical Balance.
2. To all of those who placed bets before the thread would be locked, it's been about 3 and a half hours.So ha!

Re: SAW with optics
ok soucy you dont understand... ac-130 huge *** jet that needs a runway the size of kashan/would be pointless to do if you only had 8 seats so that means the ac-130 is hardcoded....LtSoucy wrote:If you don't keep it balanced its not fun for others. yes it Project Reality but it still needs to be fun. ok here
mv of m249 ingame= 915m/sec
mv of hk21 ingame= 840m/sec
ok so lets see, in bf2 there is about 14.9m/sec gravity. and the m249 and the hk21 have a gravity mod of 0.3, so do some calculations.
say there is a target at 600m, the bullet from the m249 ingame would take 500/915=0.546 sec to reach the target, the hk21 would take 500/840=0.595 sec to reach target.
now do ((14.9*0.3)*0.546) that is the amount of bullet drop for the saw.
now do ((14.9*0.3)*0.595) that is the amount of bullet drop for the hk21.
now if you were to lazy to do the math it is
m249=2.44 m drop
hk21=2.65 m drop
ok so 20cm more drop and it takes 0.05sec longer to get there, i think it is ok to say they have the same range ingame. also if you are like but bullets slow down, in pr right now they dont.
