Weird. I havn't read anything about the Chinese using the Kord. They have their own machine guns like 77SiCaRiO77 mentioned. Giving the Kord to MEC would make sense since they already uses it in-game (the MG on the vodniks, T90s and Mi-8s used by MEC are Kords).[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:well in the file system the called is called chhmg_kord ie, Chinese hmg kord![]()

Re: [Weapon/Asset] deployable 50cals
Don't worry about it. You're right, the MEC one will have a KORD on it and the Chinese counterpart will be the same one that's mounted on the Nanjing. The NVST is actually a file that is not used at all in BF2 (as far as I've seen) despite the fact that it comes with the game. That said, the NVST should be slapped on top of the T80USTORM-Mama wrote:Weird. I havn't read anything about the Chinese using the Kord. They have their own machine guns like 77SiCaRiO77 mentioned. Re: [Weapon/Asset] deployable 50cals
I thought the problem with these kind of things is that the weapon remains after the 'structure' is destroyed. How did you overcome that?

doing testing in the editor it seems fine so far but I've done no testing ingame as of yet but this has been setup differently from a sandbag with a child MG on it.Dr2B Rudd wrote:I thought the problem with these kind of things is that the weapon remains after the 'structure' is destroyed. Why not give it to the Militia?[R-DEV]Jaymz wrote:The NVST is actually a file that is not used at all in BF2 (as far as I've seen) despite the fact that it comes with the game. That said, the NVST should be slapped on top of the T80U![]()

Re: [Weapon/Asset] deployable 50cals
Sorry about this mess...................please kill all above posts but not this one?
Do you know the maximum distance (even roughly) that these can be deployed from a FB.
I ask because it is an important advantage to keep the location of your FBs unknown to the enemy, therefore hidden from the direct sight. The best way of achieving this being to place the FB at the bottom of a hill, small gully, valley or if an FB is not placed on significantly lower ground, keeping them well hidden can be instead be achieved just be placing them further in the horizontal direction away from the enemy, in most cases the flag objective. The need to ensure FBs are hidden and hidden very well will only increase in 0.8 and all future versions as result of FBs becoming less survivable against LATs and HATs (requiring but 1 hit to disable) and one day, facing a mortar threat.
The 50cal has exceptional range, accuracy and power when compared to all 5.56 weapons and combine this with the increasing importance of the requirement to be able to lay down hard hitting long range suppressing fire on enemy flags (often very difficult with just light machine guns), the .50cal is going to be an extremely important asset but these unique capabilities can only be taken advantage of, if it is employed properly. To employ properly, it is required for the .50cal to be placed somewhere that can provide a direct view of the enemy at longest range possible and this can be achieve by placing it on high ground, often close to the flag objective.
However this requirement and how it is achieved directly conflicts with those for FB (stated in 1st para). The best location for an FB is a very bad location to deploy a .50cal, specifically the worlds worst Bases of Fire (location you let rip from where you want best possible field of fire/view distance and cover).
This is a problem because there is a maximum distance a 50cal can be placed away from an FB. Therefore if this distance is not great enough an FB can not be hidden and at the same time a .50cal protect the FB and/or provide fire support to troops and visa versa.
For example if you manage to place your FB in a well hidden location but the best location for a Base of Fire, to put a .50cal (view for 300m + lots of cover) that could both protect you FB and provide suppressing fire for attacking troops, is 50m out side the max distance allowed and you cannot place your FB closer to that location for various reasons (dont mess with my hypothetical situation ), you are therefore forced, if you want to provide some protection for you FB, to place a .50cal in location closer to the flag and that is much poorer Base of Fire. To the extent that it provides much a shorter view distance, where you can only see and engage your enemy at 50-100m, rather a waste of a weapon that is capable of killing at a mile! It is also possible that the Best Base of Fire location overlooks the FB and .50cal, altogether making the .50cal useless for providing fire support for flag attacks and not much better than a man portable LMG for protecting the FB.
While less distance between the FB (if it is hidden) and .50cal is needed if purpose of weapon is to protect the FB but if it is to provide fire support for flag attacks, greater distance will almost always be needed.
Therefore I believe the maximum distance that can separate the two must be very carefully considered because I think players should be able put there FBs in the good location (partially if not well hidden) AND AT THE SAME TIME put their .50cals in good location (good view around FB if not view of flag objective) and as I have state above, if this distance is too short it is not possible.

OMG absolutly fantastic. I cannot wait for these to be in and I especially cant wait to use them in the tournament changes the whole meaning of defending a bunker or firebase.

Re: [Weapon/Asset] deployable 50cals
i would say, when the german MG-3 is ingame, the HMGs should be:
China: QJZ89
MEC: MG3
Militia: NVST
China: QJZ89
MEC: MG3
Militia: NVST

you can destroy emplaced MGs on the stock map so I wouldnt see why you couldn't make it act like that

Re: [Weapon/Asset] deployable 50cals
what do you actually think, how will the HMGs influence gameplay? i guess they will make grenadiers more importand at assaults on bunkers, since they might be a good way to kill the mg-gunners

Re: [Weapon/Asset] deployable 50cals
I dont like an arab MEC with a MG3 in hees hands, doesent seem right, and if amis get the M2 .50 cal so should the MEC too (i mean just the caliber)
here some examples
DShK DShKM 12.7 Modern Firearms - DShK / DShKM 12.7 heavy machine gun
NSV 12,7 'Utes' Modern Firearms - NSV-12.7 machine gun
Kord 12,7 Modern Firearms - Kord 12.7 6P50 heavy machine gun
MEC should get one of these

Re: [Weapon/Asset] deployable 50cals
just a quick question, how far can you swivle the .50cal? is it a full 360 degree thing or just a small 90 degree cone in the front?
