Disable solo armour for good.
I searched.. point me in the right direction if i missed this being suggested before.
I'm sick of solo armour. It's still happening a lot, way too often.
Is it possible from a coding point of view to totally disable the main gun of APCs and Tanks when there is no driver? DB?
Screw the delay.. just make it unusable without a driver. Has it been debated or tried?

yes its possible but what happens if your driver is suddenly disconnected 1/2 way though an engagement of anouther tank? There are loads of scenarios we have that this would be really bad for and tbh I hardly see one man tanks these days?

You switch to the driver seat and bug out... and hope to survive to get a new gunner.
I still see a lot of solo armour. One man squads taking APCs and Tanks is still rife IMO.

i think remove the vehicles ability to move unless it is fully and correctly crewed

One of the best tactics in tanking is to wait in a good position for the enemy tank to expose itself, therefore increasing your chance of getting the first shot in.
Unfortunately this plays into the solo tankers hands.
Move to an area where you expect the enemy to attack next, find a position, switch to the gunner, wait, engage, retreat if badly damaged. You don't need to 2 crewmen to be very effective doing this.
I'm not saying this is the best tactic, but it can be very effective.

I don't think it's a good idea. Sometimes you need solo armour to pick up teammates in another location, or you need to drive away the vehicle from a position where it's have been stranded. Don't mind the solo players, they are naturally disadvantaged by going solo. Besides IRL you can go solo, even if the reason is not like some solo fighter in PR are doing it for.

Or make it so there is an even longer delay, but if you have a driver inside the tank it shortens to like 10-15 seconds (since you're crewed). If driver for some reason disconnects or gets out, you can still gun, but moving again on your own and you'll have to wait a while to use the gunner position again.

i would remove the ability to drive a tank without the full crew because it is a waste of a tank to drive to "pick up" a squad member that is stranded or to use it as a meer means of transportation.

I find this for a good idea, no driver: the gunner cant operate the gun, afterall in the real life there is no solo tanking, and if your teammate disconnects, you hop in the driver's position and drive the tank back to the main base, and also if you restrict the move of the turret without a driver, solo tanking will dissapear, and if you do so you can remove the delay, or create a new one like 5-6 secs.

I like this idea, particulary if the delay time without a driver would be set to >5 minutes.Outlawz wrote:Or make it so there is an even longer delay, but if you have a driver inside the tank it shortens to like 10-15 seconds (since you're crewed). Sometimes it´s better to have one "Solotanker" with Experience who doing his "Job" well, before u have a stupid "Tankteam" that wrecking and wasting Tank after Tank within 2 till 4 Minutes, or "parking" on a useless Position!
But u are right, for more reality it´s an good Idea to increase the Time to activate the Mainturret. The most modern Battletanks have a small Drivercabin, so if a "Solotanker" wants to use the Turret he need to get out of the Tank, climbing on the Turret and getting in. This will take a few minutes and maybe he will be shoot by Enemy. There is no need to disable Solotanking.

Re: Disable solo armour for good.
Don't think completely disabiling the ability to fire solo is a good idea. There are situations where is is useful or even needed. While I too hate seeing a tank drive off solo, there are situations where it's applicable. We have all been base raped on Kashan at some point, or had a gunner/driver disconnect, you shouldn't suddenly not be able to fire cause your driver disconnected. Like everyone knows, players are hardcoded. I love this mod, and I hate it when something unrealistic is added to stop something unrealistic like solo tanking, then you still end up with less reality in reality mod.
