I agree with the increasing warm up time camp, since this is a game there are instances when solotanking is necessary- e.g. disconnected squadmate, smacktard squadmate needing kicking from squad, simply not enough people on the team etc.

I had made a thread for this before... Please don't go locking this one simply because I mentioned it again. It's an on going issue that has persisted and been part of the negative experience for Project Reality for far, far too long...

Thank you for bringing it up though MadTommy. Matter of fact, I had suggested the very same ideals you've been searching for aswell. Care to look? Sometimes good threads just never get the eyes of the right people at the right time. Thusly, fading into the past silently unbeknownst to others.

Just whack a delay on the drivers seat aswell, then each solo tanker is FUBAR'd !

And it can be classed as warmup, prep-check whatever :)

remvove solo APC aswell, no more solo apc or tank. not a 2 man crew = gun not work ever. drive back to main to get gunner again.

How often does that happen anyway? i never got DC while gunning or driving and i have done maybe a couple of hundred hours of it :D

TBH, I think the current times are penalty enough (30 seconds) but that bug/glitch is what is causing people to see so many solo-tankers.

Just as an aircraft is rendered essentially useless without reasonable forward air controllers, so should tanks be heavily punished for having only a single crewman.

I do see lot of solo armor and its totally wasting it. Maybe just adding a PR TIPS: DO NOT FUCKING SOLO TANK AND APC!

You guys do know about the bug right? the one where you switch to gunner seat and start firing instantly, I don't want describe it here because then maybe more people will start doing it, but yea that happens alot!

How about you can't shoot unless you have a driver?
makes you still able to drive it,
makes you unable to solo gun it,
If your gunner/driver gets disconnected they can still drive back for a man, but wont be able to shoot the gun.
Sounds pretty efficient to me..

Can it be done? :D

I think this issue has been solved for good. There is no need for more work here. Solo has been made really disadvantaged, and you really have to be a different wanting to go solo in PR. I think it still should be available to solo tank because everything can happened in a battlefield and you can end up alone for some time and maybe wish to switch over to the gunner before you are safe to move back to pick up teammates.
Also it's the SL responsibility to make sure there is no solo drivers in his team. Easily solved with a kick from the squad if no obeyed.

What pepole forget is that this is not a mod where its about getting high kds etc, its about the teamwork.

I would say, no driver. No Gunner, you should be able to drive if youre driver disscon... BUT the best thing would be if...

In mainbase, a tank/apc CANT move without both driver and gunner.

This will reduce "i will pick up my squadmate on the other side of the map, oh hey here is a hotzone. Lets take this tank through here yeeehaaaa.

If driver gets kicked or something else you shoudl be able to drive the tank.

Its probably hardcoded, i think you have to set the same delay for both, since the tank probably cant sence "oh hey, there was a driver in me less than 2 mins, let the gunner drive"


5 mins or more if you dont have a gunner, b ut i would like if you would be forced to be 2 guys inside the mainbase to move it so a tank/apc leaves the main MANNED!

I see loads of "veterans" who drive solo tanks inside the hotzones, i tell them not to solo tanks since its against the rules (tg) and its not the way they are meant to be used...

Is it so damn hard for your teammate to just press Tab>suicide... There are no ranks in this game (ex tb server) so why do pepole care about kd... Do it for the teamwork not for ya own white ***.

Sorry for the rant, i just had to.

Its just i see to many old veterans who is taking this mod back to vanilla style, its all about headshots, high kds. Most hax kills etc...

Dammit play it in a realistic way, the way it is meant to be played.

soloing does suck, but sometimes its the only way.
On Ejod a while ago i spawned main, saw apc, wrote "empty apc main fyi" in the teamchat. Continued playing and after a while i again ended up in the main. And looky there, the apc was still there!(No, it wasnt used destroyed and respawned, i wasnt away from the mainbase for long enough)
So i man it and write in teamchat: "Sq X needs gunner/driver!"
Did that for at least 10mins, but nobody gave a shit, so i just soloed it, and helped the teams advance alot by attacking gardens and guarding the main street from the western hills.

Im not saying soloing is in any way good, but the described issue should also be taken into consideration.

Another alternative solution might be (If possible) to have separate crewman driver & crewman gunner kits. The driver kit can only drive, while the gunner kit can only gun. You can still request both right off your own tank, but there can be a delay between requesting a new one (Like having to wait 3 to 5 minutes in between requests). This would making solo tanking an overall pain in the ***, and I think it would create a nice reduction as to how often it happens.

You also wouldn't be stuck in one of those scenarios where you're gunning and suddenly your driver disconnects, and you're left both immobile and defenseless. Because if you still hold the gunner kit you can at least remain capable of firing the turret. Or you can hop out and grab the driver kit, but the player would still have to wait quite some time before requesting the gunner kit back.

I still seen alot of solo tank and i hope dev to do something realy stoping it.
