HMMWV Model

Post by DeltaFart »

Ok i'm recalling this from my Black Sand Studio beta testing days (back when there was a alot of things to test, woe is us BSS BTs [this is a hint devs ;-) ]) that the USI HMMWV the passengers inside can't do anything. I honestly think that is a bad idea because if your being shot at you'd rather be able to shoot back. The only downside is that you can't move your head as much like if we left it as is, and the enemy can kill you with the window open but think about it, how would you get hit through that small window when it's moving? And some will say that it will become a rolling gun truck in a sense but then when one RPG can take it out I'd rather not stop moving. Call this idea more of a defensive thought than offensive.
sincerely,

I've read stories of service early in the Iraq War where soldiers fired their M16s/M4s and M203s from fully-loaded HMMWVs in battle. Why shouldn't the HMMWV be the practical equivalent of a 'gunship of the land' when required?

I mean some will think it's unfair to allow that, someone's going to complain I know it, but technically it wouldn't be cause one RPG and its good bye HMMWV

mmmhmm, so youd rather have an open back where you can all be taken out by a couple shots or youd like a closed back allowing your passangers to have some safety, while sacrificing not shooting out a little window? Yeah, id take option B

An issue is that if you allow some weapons to be fired, you have to allow all weapons to be fired. Anyone fancy firing a H-AT from inside a humvee?

it's possible now, out of the back that is. but it is not a really viable tactic. believe me, we tried it (shooting out of LB is viable though :D ). i would vote in favor of being able to shoot out of the jeeps. when you're moving fast it's more like cover fire if anything and if you stop you're toast in a hot situation anyway.

It's bad enough in an open-topped one, it's completely unrealistic in a closed one. You could roll around in a closed humvee, safe-ish to small arms fire and not looking like much of a threat to armour, stop for a second, then shoot some h-at rounds through a closed window. Not realistic.

Just a thought, and since the mod is lacking animators it probably shouldn't happen, but could the second passenger get a button like on the Merlin to open the hatch?
