Hand brake. What happend?

Post by Sgt. Mahi »

I searched the forum for a thread about hand brake for vehicles 'cause I knew I wouldn't be the first one mentioning this. The thread suggested hand brakes for vehicles to prevent sliding down a hill and all seemed to be for it. But what happend?

Some claimed it was hard coded some claimed otherwise but what is the real fact? I noticed that no dev's answered the question so the thread just died with no clear answer... I would like that answer please. I don't want speculations. I just want to know if it can be done?

And now for something else:

The sniper have to wait for a few seconds to get a good aim. Can this be be simulated by a "hold breath" key instead? Something like what I've seen in ArmA??

I have to agree with the notion of a hand-brake, it's allways annoying to go sliding down a slope.

Even if you did apply handbrake on a slippy slope or on sand, you wouldnt stop, all that would happen is the ground would go with you.

There's a trick you can use to stop sliding: switch to a position other than the driver and then switch back, this will stop the slide as long as the slope is not too steep.

I would imagine the "solution" for that might be to make the vehicle heavy.. But even that may not work...

As for the sniper thing: Hold Breath has been out since COD2, even before that (but it's the first time I've seen that.. I belive) and as far as I know, they're cutting the 2 second pause in 0.8..as far as I know..

Ok. So the conclusion is that it can't be done I guess. Thanks for the answers.

I actually would be dissapointed i they removed the 2 seconds pause. I was just thinking it could be great to know when you're ready to fire your first shot instead of counting "1 mississippi, 2 mississippi, BANG!" I need an indicator

actually I thought there was a script that effected traction properties, since some mods the vehicles dont slide in otehrs they do, but PR is the most noticable

As far as I know the game is different to battlefield mainly because of the reality, as the name suggests, so having a guy switch seats and brake like that isnt a good solution..

I know zero about coding and all that , but making a hand-brake looks like some pretty bad-*** coding... Having the animation and then the action of braking harder... plus the reaction... its sound like a tough thing, too much for a small detail.. But it would be a huge plus for the 1.8...

as for the sniper, a signal like having it be blurry and then clear to let you know your clear to go is whats best suitable to let you know along with the good idea of cutting to 0.8
