If we will kick new players for trying out diff vehicles then how do we expect them to improve their skills? I know that when summer comes the servers will be filled (already are) with more smacktard and new/or new players, but this solution will only cause that there wont be any good pilots/crewmen. It is like expecting girls to be virgins until marriage but the guys have to be experienced. It just wont work.

people who sit at the airport with pilot kits waiting 10+ minutes for the plane to spawn will NEVER be a good teamplayer and should just be banned. these people will NEVER play a solid round of PR, cause no player worth a damn would sit there waiting for planes/choppers. it's better to just get rid of these people to make room for productive players.

Well when I joined PR I also flew around on empty maps, but to fly in an actual online game is different. On the training map the only thing you can learn is how to take off and land, and of course stay in the air, but you canot practice attacks on anything, or how to use flares.

I too had rounds when i was waiting for a helo to spawn, but through this I actually learned how to fly in a combat zone, and it did involve getting shot down many times. Despite this i consider myself a teamplayer, who will revive/heal/lase/build/drive/transport.

Of course im talking about those newbs (calling ppl smacktards because they are not experienced is a bit harsh) who are shot down frequently, not those who dont know how to take off. Even the greatest have shitty rounds, but nobody is effy about that. Those great pilots had to start somewhere too.

I know that it is frustrating to see a valuable asset being destroyed in a short time, but there are thousand other things that are also annyoing and are more frequent (only 2 maps have jets/attack helis).

Limiting the pilot kits in quantity would be move, not for the jets, but for the attack helis. It could be abused too easily (just request the kit in the middle of nowhere), and it will be hard for attack helo crews to be in the same squad AND have the limited pilot kits. There will always be ppl waiting for the assets, and there will always be more than needed.

Maybe a single player could solve this, but I dont know if you could make the AI to lase targets effectively. This problem have been consistent since I joined and have been brought up many times with the result: players are hardcoded, all we can do is to try and help the newbs and weed out the actual smacktards.

I would like to begin by saying that I am a noob. Yes I admit it, I have only been playing this mod for 2 days, and I have only just begun to master infantry combat. Flying in PR really isn't all that different from BF2, at least from my experience. I can fly a plane and not crash it (even though on my first landing I came in too fast and slammed into the far end of the runway), and I am fairly adept at manuevering a helicopter. But I still do not fly because even though I can do it, I am useless as a combat pilot. I want to win, and I am not going to do anything that will get in the way of that, and that includes wasting valuable air assets. The first server I played on was a Kashan server, and I was amazed to find myself under heavy fire from my own teammates in my base, and then looking up to see firefights taking place between people trying to hog the vehicles and planes.

Unfortunately, you can't simply kick everyone that crashes, because everyone makes mistakes. And if you limit the pilot kit these people will simply rush for it as they do for the aircraft themselves. The simple fact is, PR is a game, and games are inherently filled with idiots. The good news is that there are far fewer of them here than in BF2, where there is often a second battle taking place at the airbases and carriers.

Is it so hard to create a squad, name it "Air Force" and be a good SL. Instead of going into a squad not listening to your SL that probably is doing infantry and just mute yourself doing something ignorant.

I'd say if you want to learn to fly, find an empty server there you can train all you like without painting an entire squad on a mountain or tree of your choice. The only server where I sometimes fly when its populated is our own server.
As for camping for assets: warn, kick, ban.

Yes kick them. I admit I suck in the jets so I don't use them, But I can fly the chopper easily. To learn how to fly the different kinds I just made a lan game and messed around for a few hours and got the hang of it. With the amount of new people who play everyday I sometimes see 1 or 2 noobs crash the chopper in under 60 secs or on the helipad per round. But thats what you get for making the best bf2 mod.

I agree with that smacktards are no good, but please. The person who really needs a ban is wumwuts, and you should know who he is.

hello there
i have my 2 cents too

you cant learn to fly on an empty server, the only way u learn that is by experiencing the stuff (incoming fire/REAL insertions with REAL bf2 guys/...)

my opinion

Yes agreed you need to learn fighting and bombing online, but if you get on a server you shouldnt crash.
