"undeveloped" factions and field dressings
I saw something on TV about field dressings and I thought about how unrealistic it is for an undeveloped nation to issue its troops with field dressings. They have the be manufactured, payed for, and then distributed amongst the troops; which clearly such factions (militia, insurgents) do not have the financial means to do. So, I was thinking of an alternative, something widely available but just as effective. So i thought of a "Combine Dressing" which is basically a sterial pad of gauze and can be purchased almost anywhere. http://www.alwaysbeprepared.com/site/558697/product/FA-24SU This site explains what thye are, and what they are used for. I have a few of them myself for emergency situations (have had to use one myself once) and I thought, "If I could get ahold of some, why not an Iraqi war veteran, or a civillian trained in first aid?"

Other than a different model/skin, would there be any other difference?
Though you have to bear in mind, militias and insurgencies would likely be backed by the MEC and would have some hand-me-down gear (such as the BRDM's and tanks). Also, local hospitals etc could easily be raided by insurgents to get supplies.

Would the change result in a gameplay change, not just visuals?

... A "field dressing" is a sterile pad of gauze, with a long bandage attached. That's what a dressing is. Absorbant material and a length of bandage to hold it in place.
It's nothing fancy; only whatever a regular first aid kit would hold.

But to do the thread starter, your suggestion just seems to be a visual one, so its nothing that important right now...

Most inrgency groups are very organized, they do have doctors or supporters. a war vet would still have his bandage left over and a civi is just a nice person.

Cookies... mmmm.... but sadly it's not even a visual change.
What Ryan posted is a dressing.
A field dressing is a dressing.
It's... a...
God I don't know what it is really.
Except possibly a nothing?

Yea,the Insurgents would probably have the MEC backing them (like how Iran backs/supports the Iraqi militias/insurgency groups/Taliban) and the "Militia" would have some "dirty" european country supplying them probably...Or they all just have good connections with people in the "Black Market"...

Well, yeah, its a civillian gauze pad used as a field dressing. A field dressing has wraps that allow them to be attached to the wearer. but in game they would do the same thing. but in the persuit of realism a quick and easy model wouldnt be too hard for someone to make. i just wanted a model/skin change for them to make them a little less "proper"
