Training Map questions for DEVs

Hello all, we’re in the process of making a training map and have a few questions for the DEV’s. Our whole goal is to create a realistic training map that has a MOUT building, Shooting range, obstacle course, urban war fare section, driving courses, and many other items for squad or team training. The question is; is Project Reality going to have doors that open or explode? We’re thinking to make this as realistic as possible. Thanks for all your hard work on this wonderful MOD “PROJECT REALITY”!!!!!!!

That sounds like a cool map

I suppose you could make a weak structure like the boarded up part of the ball at the south end of Karkand and use that as a locked door. Put breaching charges on 'em!

I would acvise no doors. They case lag and would also mean every BF2 building to be redone or to find anouther way of doing doors and you would be trying every door you saw to see if it was locked, or unlocked. And in a map as big as karkand you dont want to do that...

Seems that would increase the realism... but I see your point. Our training buildings will have the ability to insert doors (destructible or openable). Thanks for the input but it would be nice to get some feed back from some of the devs about he doors.

could we just create a destuctable door and put it on some of the currantly accessable buildings.

yep. But you would have to get somone to make it. This would still add to the lag, but hardly any. Unless you had hundereds of them.

You could use those barricades that are destructible. It's like a boarded up door, needs to be breached with a grenade. You see them in various BF2 maps, barricades that can be destroyed.

Not sure if that would help.

that was my idea but do a reskin of it as a door or do several varients

Special Forces has doors - at the entrance to the "Devils Perch". It is activated by the E key.


EDIT:

It would be cool to have CQC section with destructible cover though!

Nice Idea - but as a training Map - blowing doors would not be realistic as you will not do this "ingame", ie on other maps - so why train for it, unless it is a fun style map too ?
