How many seconds should you have to wait between each shot to maintain mid/long range

Post by Wolfe »

Poll:
Considering both gameplay & realism, how many seconds should you have to wait between each shot to maintain mid/long range accuracy? Your answer should be based on what you think it should be, not what it actually is.

Example:
M16, G3, etc., at a range of 100-200 meters, where each shot reaches the absolute minimum deviation possible.

It would be nice to see some data long with opinions.

Depends on the exact range, target, situation. If i'm in danger i'll shoot faster than when i'm surprising someone. I can't really say it, so i wont vote. Do it as realistic as possible and as gamey as needed.

That's a difficult question. By maintaining accuracy do you mean pinpoint, absolute precision accuracy where I can shoot a dime at 300 meters? If that's the case I would definitely lean toward a very long wait time.

depends on gun, on type 95 mabye .5 second on a G3 mabye a bit more due to "recoil"

Why not ask the Devs to ask the MAs? I'm sure they could give you a reasonable second shot time.

YES. Example:

I thought deviation was based on Frames per Second?

I put 1.5 seconds, but my rule of thumb is when I stop hearing the sound file for the shoot weapon animation, I can shoot again.

Server frames per second, which is 30. That value is always the same for all players at all times. Shaders, on the other hand, such as bullet suppression, is based on client frames per second, which depends on individual machines.

If you're breathing properly it should be 1 (breath) 2 (exhale) TRIGGER SQUEEZE

People don't breath like that after every shot, unless it's a bolt action rifle or something.

As for the question, it depends on the weapon and the recoil. Would be nice if someone could tell us how it is in real life, I have no idea.

If you see people on a target range it can be up to 15 seconds between shots, but usually about 4 or 5. Again, like I said on your other thread I'd say ask the MAs...

IRL when im using an L85 with cadets i may take up to 30seconds or more between each shot and thats at 25m.

But them i am trying to get a very tight grouping onto a small piece of card with iorn sights.

With the recoil in mind, what does it take for the left hand to center the aim probably? You shoot left hand moves right, then waves left and finally it centers. Depending on the recoil it probably waves right left 2x, and finally when you have it centered it starts to wave up and down. The more shoots you do the more tired your hand will be, the more wave and time will grow before you are 100% centered.

this is a very bad way to decide because asking people to give their opinion on time measurement by gut feeling is ridiculously inaccurate.
unless you get testers/mil advisors to test it with a stopwatch beside them, this poll is utterly futile

Dont really care as i dont tend to take accurate shots with assault rifles. I just aim at the guy and click till he diesor till im out of ammo ;) Shooting so many bullets in your enemies direction that atleast some of them will hit work wonders ;)
Never argue with an idiot, he will just drag you down to his level and beat you by experience ;)

From what I can remember firing the G3 in the army 5 years ago, it should be 2 sec for max accuracy while 1,5 sec is enough to hit a chest sized target with 2 bullets at 50 meter.. (if your prone, too bad we cant rest weapons on sandbags, window frames etc.)
For gameplay reasons, avatars should be even more worse shots than me IRL, so 3 seconds for max accuracy while the deviation is heavily reduced already after 1 second seems like a compromise.
5.56 weapons should have slightly less deviation penalty from moving and firing due to less recoil and lighter weapon, while needing 2 bullets to be sure to kill..

0.50 with the starting deviation being a bit longer and wider.

For the G3, there shouldn't be deviation, just recoil IMO.
One of the problems atm is that you can't put up suppressive fire with the G3 as fast and accurate as you can with the M16 due the M16 being faster to fire and very little recoil which makes no impact on accuracy while with the G3 it's exactly the opposite.
Not to mention, that for some reason the M16 is accurate enough even when I play with high ping while I can barely hit a thing with the G3 on low ping servers, especially if the target is running around all the time, while I have no trouble taking out moving targets with the M16 (and yes I know I have to lead the shot and that stuff)
