Some could be added, if you want to keep the special kits; Sniper, Spec Ops, Marksman etc,
No, we keep the brit kits as they are now. I could really use a medic you know. as for the ammo cache idea, yes that be good. however most of the caches located around the city could also be used as Mayor weapon caches?

Don't know if we should allow grappeling hooks personally, I mean i'm sure every Iraqi civilian carries a grappeling hook with them to work. I also feel that the Iraqi Police should be given an AK like they use now (Even if PR is set in the future).

Would it be possible to code buildings to be enterable? Or at least replace the models for the enterble ones at least.
I dont think so that teleports are either ealistic and hard coded.

and no dont replace buildings yet lets first try the normal version. if civies wanted to live some where they could live in the entrable buildings in the city or in the villages around Basra.

Teleports.... I believe you should use: playerObject.getDefaultVehicle().setPosition((0,500,0))

Just throwing an idea here, but maybe the ticket system can act as a "bank" for each faction and for each player on the faction. Not sure how it'd work though...

Man, i remember that... it was so fun. Youd have a civy drive up in a car and NOT know whether it was rigged to be blown by an engy or not :P

Youd be like "Dune, check the car. Check the back seats"

"Hell no, its rigged, im SURE!"

Haha. Nowadays, people would just shoot the civy in the car because theyd get the points :)

Man.... :retreats into 'nostalgic shield of memories' [+2 defense, +3 protect]:

Itd be fun, but maybe just make it a single server where people know they can go to actually play it out and not worry about tickets. Maybe get permission to change tickets and such so the rounds are indefinite? Al Basrah map, no time limit, or really long.

You join the server and see what all is going on.

There might be a way to code weapon requests based upon teamwork points and the like, but I wouldnt know. For example, you get so many teamwork points, you proceed to the next tech level of available weaponry? There are various basic kits, starting with a knife, then a pistol with a few mags, to SMG's, to rifles, AT, and sniper rifles. :P
in my basic if,then speak:
If teamwork points = 30 to 50
then available kit level = tier 2

etc etc etc for however many kit types you wanted... maybe even have various kits in the same tier...

Might be possible to even make cars requestable? But idk... heh. Get so many points and you have to go to a gas station static and request a car? :P

I should learn to code before I start blabbering on :)

This is one of the most dangerous assignments however should keep the British in contact whit the map around them. This however exposes them to raids and ambushes by insurgents. However I would like to see how they work there way out of it.
I just had a thought about this one. What if you use the AAS code, so that the British that are executing the Supplying Operations it has Temporary Flags that you must capture in order to "complete" the Supply Mission, these falgs would be visable to everyone so that the British could follow the path of the newly spawned flags and cap them as they go, and they could be seen by the Insurgent side so that they can set up ambushes and such.

After they were all capped and the supplies are set at the routes final destination the flags would disapear from the map, or they could also disapear after a set amount of time indicating that the insurgents had "won" the Supply Mission?

Is this at all posible or am I just speaking of a totally hardcoded system?

Edit: So the thing would go like this - Start (British Controlled Airport) - 1st Checkpoint (Somewhere along one of the major or minor roads in Basra) - 2nd Checkpoint (Somewhere else along the same road) - Final Destination (A neighborhood somewhere in or around Basra)

So if the British team is stopped at checkpoint two for a set amount of time the Insurgents "win" the mission and maybe some pickup kits spawn back at the Insurgent HQ i.e. the Palace or maybe even the Mosque. On the other hand if the British break through the ambush and capture the checkpoint then ultimately move on and drop the supplies at the last stop, they "win" the mission and get access to some new pickup kits at spawn, or maybe even some heavier equiptment such as Saxon Jeeps or maybe even a Warrior or Scimitar.

Edit 2: Maybe once either side wins one of those old orange messages pop up at the top of the screen, you know the ones that used to read " Such and such has been issued the Sniper Kit."

Well instead of that they could posibly show a message after someone has won the mission such as, "The Insugents has stopped supplies coming into the city, citizens are inspired by their acts of courage against the invaders and have redoubled their efforts in defeating them.", or "The British have succesfully delivered supplies to the city, British Commanders have began recognizing the danger in the city and have requisitioned heavier equiptment from a forward base close by."

Id say the air vehicles stay out, just for the RPG sake. And the start with only knife is bad idea just give us regular kits

Then what would civilians start with? pistols? AKs?

The point would be you start with like, a wrench and shovel or something and have to work your way up in the world...

Man I remember the beta .6 days... Basrah RP was fun! To be honest, RPing can happen now. Basra and Archer are perfect for it. Just make a rule that Civilians can't ever be shot and make the insurgent militant kit be a police officer.

Finally got through the whole thread. I personally think OP archer would be a far better map to base this idea on. It's alot bigger and has far more enterable buildings. (People can claim houses.)

You have the little settlement to the north which could be a staging point for insurgents (No go zone for US.)

The current ambush bunkers as such could be used as check points used by marksman and snipers on over watch duty.

The main problem I forsee (A general problem) is detention of people, since opposite teams can't get in each others vehicles at the same time. Not sure if python can fix it.

What we really need are less-then-lethal weapons to make the Brits like police and they would try to stop insurgents from building bombs and blowing them up. We can use a shotgun as a stand-in for the Mossberg that shoots beanbags and makes the insurgents stop for a few seconds or something makes them blind for a few seconds just something that makes a good less-then-lethal weapon. I say the insurgents need to "buy" weapons after earning money from something. Then they can buy different size bombs and vehicles etc.

We really need something that saves your stats. Maybe not your stuff but atleast your money. Like the vBF2 point system.

I think area chat is quite a big need too. Makes everything much neater and easier to read whilst preventing meta gaming. (Using information your character shouldn't be able to know.)

Area chat is what MMOs use, meaning only people in a certain radius can hear you.
