No one can give you an exact answer to this question. You have to try it out.
I think you should be able to play with everything on high, maybe textures to medium. That depends on which video resolution you want/have to play.

Does anyone here have a 9800 or other 9-series card yet? I want to know what the performance advantage really is.

(I have an 8600GT.)

If you buy 9800GTX, i guarantee you will get HUGE performance boost, IF your processor is good also, because otherwise your graphics card might get bottlenecked.

I have a new notebook/laptop with a Geforce 9 series in it. Hers the specs:

CPU: Core 2 Duo @2.5Ghz
RAM: 4GB
GPU: Geforce 9500M GS 512MB
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64

Like the rest of the 9 series cards it's nothing special. Basically a die-shrink of the 8600 GT with optimization improvements. It does perform better, but nothing drastic to upgrade over if you already own an 8 series mid-range and above card.

chris2005 the bottlenecked with your system would be the processor, but regardless of it you should be able to handle PR on high settings.

According to Tweakguides.com there is not much noticeable difference between High and Medium, but that is for BF2, don't know if that concerns PR.

All on low...except ! Geometry, textures and texture filtering on medium. [gotta overclock to run medium textures] Go ahead, laugh. I can't drop $200 every 6 months on my pc rig, but I would like too, so I play... with a steady framerate, but get booted from some servers for...cheating ?! Dumb *** shaders check. I'm guessing with .8 I won't be able to play at all. But oh well, life goes on.

9800GTX is about 5-6 times faster than a 8600GT

All High!
Nvidia 8800GTOC
Intel Q6600 Quad Core Processor
4GB DDR2 RAM
1x 500 GB Hard Drive
1x 60 GB Hard Drive
No lag at all, except for strange internet issues.

Everything on low/off, view distance is 100%, resolution is 800*600. I cant enjoyably play Quinling and Fool's Road and Basrah( :( ).

I think its time to get a whole new PC soon (will need to take a look around about the hardwares).

I dont know if this is an engine issue but when I was practicing strafing a tank with an A10 on a training map, I could almost never finish the tank off with one strafe because the tank itself appeared too late to aim and shoot. Does the rendering distances the same with any settings(low/medium/high) or are they better with higher ones?

Anyways my specs:
Intel P4 3.0Ghz Processor (Running at 2.2Ghz because of overheating issues)
1GB DDR1 RAM (2 512 sticks)
Ati Radeon 9600XT 256MB GPU (AGP)
Abit IS7-E2 Motherboard

All high AA max with EAX at ultra high and at 1920 X 1200 res.
I run 2 X ATI HD3870 in crossfire.
4 gigs RAM
3.0 gig processor o'clocked at 4.0
I get usually around 150's FPS
But, once i put everything on low,800 X 600 and the view distance on 50% and I got 2021 FPS, ....just ask OUTLAWZ

Ohh a e-penis measuring thread.

Nvidia 8800GTO @ 1600 x 1200
Intel 6600 Core2Duo Processor
OC from 2.4 to 3.0
4GB DDR2 RAM
A few RAID large GB Hard Drive
XP Pro

Was running it on medium until I realized it was set to my old system. I have no issues running it high.

hits 90+ average (never really watched ht fps)

Youre doing something wrong there - I have a very similar 2nd computer I use for modding except Ive got more RAM and an ATI X850 AGP 256MB, also I overclock my CPU to about 3.3 Ghz. I can run everything on high at 1280*1024.
Try getting an extra gig of RAM and a Zalman CNPS7000-Cu fan for your CPU ( its BIG! )and you should be sorted ;)

My main comp is similar to codes ^ except its vista and I OC the CPU's to 3.2Ghz with a zalman fan and a 8600GT 256 silent - I run everything on high and its almost silent - not bad for a £50 gfx card :D
