spacemanc wrote:Youre doing something wrong there - I have a very similar 2nd computer I use for modding except Ive got more RAM and an ATI X850 AGP 256MB, also I overclock my CPU to about 3.3 Ghz. I can run everything on high at 1280*1024.
Try getting an extra gig of RAM and a Zalman CNPS7000-Cu fan for your CPU ( its BIG! )and you should be sorted ;)

Well, it would be better if I bought a new PC since this one wont last long even if I buy more RAM. It is simply too old, and couldnt even upgrade it much (there arent too many AGP GPUs now).

I tried to solve the overheating CPU prob , but just couldnt. I bought 3 cpu fans, got fans on both sides of the PC case to circulate air, bought that heat conducting gel that goes between the fan and the CPU, and nothing worked. Maybe the problem is that in the house where I live the electricity is pretty fucked up, and the current is very very unstable and I think the PC doesent like that much. Unfortunately I think I realized this a bit too late.

But thx for the advice ;)

Sounds like you need to air condition the room and put a window fan on it with the sides off.
Maybe use RIVAtuner to control the videocard fans by putting them on 100% all the time.

Get a quality PSU, so long as the power is always there then the psu should regulate the voltage to good levels. Unless your light bulbs are constantly dimming on and off the psu should compensate, thats what all those expensive capicators are for.

Failing that go the whole way and get a UPS box to sit in between the socket and the computer. A good psu should stop voltage spikes anyway but a UPS whole purpose is to stand in the way and regulate and even provide power for the computer (for a short time)

Uninterruptible power supply - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cheapest should be around 50, they are very heavy though as usually they contain battery cells

I have a FPS benchmark for all of you to try out, especially the show off/rich kids. Get two tanks in convey, drive the rear one and do the double zoom on the first tank in front while moving. What FPS do you receive while double zoomed on the tank's smoke trail.

At 1600x1200 with no AA I get 13fps compared to 100fps if not zoomed - 2900xt

Intel Pentium 4 3GHz
2gb ram
ATi X300

my computer aint for gaming, so almost everything is on low besides texture and geometries which are on high
my computer temp on a load is like 42C. my only fan is a huge front exaust fan.So....I probally have the worst setup here. My fps is like 15-50fps. Im 70% sure ima get a future build in the next few years.

Why did you only sling 2 Gb of RAM in, outta interest?

Thats true enough most likely, although three (2x1Gb stcks and 2x512mb sticks for dual channel mode) still would see an improvement. Also, there's always upgrading to Vista/Windows 7 to consider down the line!

2gb is ok but 3gb is nicer. Depends if you want to use AA at all I reckon, 2 is enough most of the time without AA

I recently had everything on low, apart from sound which was up to the max. Now with my brand-spanking new 8800GT, 4GB of RAM and Quad Core, the sky's the limit baby!
Time to rise to the occasion.

Low, but with some anti-aliasing.

Hypothetically, my card should cream this game - it's an nVidia 8600MGT, but is pagued with problems. This is a shoutout to anyone considering buying any of the systems that run on it (all laptops, from Macbook Pro to Dell XPS series and so on).

DO NOT BUY IT, IT UNDERPERFORMS AS A GRAPHICS CARD BUT MAKES AN EXCELLENT HEATER.

everything on medium except for dynamic shadows, dynamic lights, and AA, which are all off. 100% view distance and 1024x768 at 60 Hz, or something like that.

intel duo core 2.76 processor
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS 256 Mb
2 gigs of RAM

I play on an average of medium, and i still lag... (only when i fly)

FPS around 100
