Im not so sure how this would pan out in terms of gameplay so here goes...
Im pretty sure IRL that a SL wouldn't have a direct link to the CO. so what if, on the Yellow Commander / SL channel, you had to be close to a radio to transmit? A Radio could be an APC, Bunker, base, soldier etc. This may kill the CO going off to some remote hilltop and observing the battle, but IRL he wouldn't do that, would he?

Just if you dont know, hardcoded means that the Dev's sadly cannot change it without the source code, which would be illegal to use.

Lock-a-Lock. Reasons stated above, anything that relates to VoIP is hardcoded.
