Sounds, when you're dead

Post by M_Striker »

I couldn't help but notive you can still hear things when you're "Dead. Why is this? And are we going to see it taken out. That's my suggestion. Also, when you're unconscious (critically wounded state) im assuming you're pretty much not able to respond if your heart is not beating, so why is there sound there too, and why can you still call out for a medic... is this hardcoded?

Good point if your dead, although removing VoIP when your dead is hardcoded, but when your "critically wounded" I don't think your necessarily considered unconscious.

Yeah you could just be shot in the leg really bad hence you are down, its just cos there isn't really an alternative way to show how to revie people except with Defibs. Also setting up adrenaline, drips etc wouldnt be very handy...

i think the VOIP should stay.....but it might be better to take it out when dead ...but the sound really should be taken out when wounded or dead...its just like having your sight when dead....u still can like spy and relay info back to your team....and if you can take out teh sound because its hardcoded..play like the ringing sound really loud...or the song on the pr server menu :D ..like cover the sound w/ something else

Nah....a low pass filter when youre critically wounded would be perfect. LPF cuts out high frequencies while letting low ones er....pass, so everything would sound muffled and distant. Its an effect they use in TV when someone is in a trance or a dream and ppl are trying to wake them......you get the idea :)

Jaymz? Possible?

Muffling sounds, and adding some sort of tinnitus would be good imo for when you're incapacitated.

(And a very blurry vision instead of the black screen :p )

I would love to see that you're more alive when critically wounded than you currently are, so that when you are critically wounded you still can see some (though very distorted/blurry/black'n'white vision) and the audio should be distorted as suggested. Thus indicating you are not quite dead but on a good way there. And also the shock paddles should be replaced by something more of a adrenaline syringe (as stated above) so that your going from the shock to a slightly more up and running but still wounded (as it's gonna be in 0. 8) state.

Well, in vBF2, with EAX enabled, whilst dead, everything is muffled when critically wounded.

When dead, the camera goes into 3rd-person mode, even if we can't see it with the black screen. So muffling that part is a bit of a gray area.

You don't know if you still hear something, and you never will. Have you ever been dead before? maybe u still hear things, I think the DEVS think that u still hear sounds.

Oh please, I really don't want that taken out too. It will be so boring waiting to respawn now..

I've heard that hearing ability fades out as the last one from all your senses when you are dying ;)

You should hear a ringing just like when you are running while heavy bleeding. When critical wounded you should have the same vision as when bullets hit you only more, abit like what cod4 has when sort of bleeding.

When dead you shouldn't be able to hear anything except voip, witch isn't modifiable anyway..

At least imo.

that doesn't really make any sense... if you're dead, you're gone, you're not alive. Your body shuts down. Therefore, how can a sense such as hearing still work? It's basic logic to know that you can't hear when you're dead....... lol

You can't hear when your dead, that's obvious... but we are talking about what happens when your dying. It takes time to die, it's not an instant process (Snap! Your dead and that's it)

lol unless you took a 50 to the head, i mean technically you're body may live for another few seconds but your brain and counciousness is instantly dead

I belive if they remove the sound, u will get kicked of the athmosphere of the game. u just hear surounding noise, u sister crying... what ever
Relisim is good, but there should be a limited. I belive the black screen is the max. of limit. Maybe u see little Videos if ur dead like on ur mobile phone to buy from jamba XD

ha!
Well i think that the muffled sounds and blurry vision is fine for critically wounded. And dead, means dead... thats the bottom line, nothing is happening in that moment, granted your brain still functions and sends signals to your already decapitated body, but who cares. Once dead, the sounds, aside from VOIP, should be removed. I was thinking of PR tips to be displayed when dead. Actually when killing a civilian a long respawn time is in order, so why not tell the ******* why he is waiting that long by showing him text about it like a tip.
