ZSU/ZPU

Post by JellyBelly »

Im not sure of the name at the moment. Im sure I can find it later, but while rhino was talking about the MEC AAA emplacements in his map, I had an idea.
Instead of these 'Uber AA', why not include some more baisic AA, such as a stationary ZSU/ZPU.

The way I look at it, its become far too simple to bring down Blackhawks and the like. So maybe, instead of just dotting SAMs around the maps, why not replace the majority with one of these. The idea being, the far more effective SAMs are reserved for more critical places, whereas ZPU'/ZSU' may be placed in areas, just as harrsment fire. Eg, open areas such as parks, town squares etc.

I'd love to see the Zeus implemented in PR. If there are aircraft in the sky, there should be hundreds of tracers in the sky, as well

To be honset, I would like to see a PRM, free of those cruddy SAMs that EA made up. Instead, Manpad SAMs should be implemented, with ZPU' making up the mainstay of the emplaced AA defences, and mobile SAMs providing any other anti-aircraft fire required.

It reminds me of the german flaK Vierling from WW2. I want it. Now all we need are a few stukas, me-109's and some YaK-9's and we will be all set.

Blah... 14.5mm ZPU-4 reminds me too much of Desert Combat. I'd rather have 23mm ZU-23-2:s

I heartily support emplaced AA machine guns, and hope map designers keep them from having LOS to the ground around them.

The so-called SAMs already in maps annoy the **** out of me. Get rid of 'em

several things i believe is in order that will make the game a lot more intense and fun to play,

a. replace the fighters with CAS planes.
b. replace the SAMs with these AAA, large firebase should have both.
c. introduce some way of slight random spawn location for these AAA.
(ok... maybe i am asking too much now)

d. introduce a better defensive positions for these AAA.
(i don't mind at all if they can't shoot the ground well, although they should be able to blast anyone stupid enough to actually come along in open in front of it)

e. following above, machine gun nest to help defense of these static AAA.
f. better air defense on the airstrips, since the current state is a joke.

i would like to see spawn points more heavily defended on alot of maps. AAA, heavy mgs, tows, sandbags and bunkerswould be nice to see more often. sometimes it seems like your not even on a battlefield. o another thing that might be nice to see is anti tank cannons and such instead of tows

Those were recoliess rifles. MEC is meant to be an army on par with that of the west. I doubt an army with the money to buy T-90's would waste cash on recoiless rifle's mouted on a Toyota Hilux.
