Little minimap change

Post by hall0 »

After a lots of sentences in the teamchat like: tank d5 etc. Where I allways have to look where I am and wheres the spotted thing is. I maake this little suggestion.
The problem is, i often dont know in which coordinate i am. So i allways look do the numbers and the letters which take little time. The question now is: Isnt it possilbe to add the letter+number inside of every square on the minimap and vehicle map?

I see the image shack one. I have to say that is pretty easy and quick to just use the letter and number grid as is.....and adding it in every grid will just add alot of clutter to it when viewing...and will be in the way. You wouldn't be able to focus on stuff cause there would be to much junk in the way. I mean just keep going with what you have already done...fill all of those boxes with the letter and number and then imagine trying to focus on stuff thats on the map.
If brute force doesn't work.......your not using enough of it.

dude, its like that on every map i've ever seen so I doubt it'll be changed

Slightly off topic, this is sometimes why friendly fire happens. So many times when under fire (and often not!) I have read out the right number and the wrong grid for example. A mistake like that when directing an A10 can be costly.

In a place where a force is deployed for a lengthy period of time, familiar locations and landmarks are given names to make comms easier, and often ranged for atillery/mortar fire. (Apologies if you are\were in the military) For instance we all know the house of pain, an overlay with features named would be a good thing imo for making comms easier.

Better yet, move the minimap (which is currently, I believe, somewhere permanently off-screen, like the vBF2 ammo/weapon HUD) just close enough to the center so that the bottom left corner is visible. Then, display the player's current grid in that small gray box (the bottom left corner of the minimap).

Even in vehicles, a crew would be able to find their grid quickly and easily by looking at their minimap.

finding your own grid is not the only part of it, you need to fine other grids too.

If the player already has a reference grid (their own) easily available, it becomes far easier to find another grid with the original markings.
