Civilian Cars driven by both teams.
Its my personal feeling, that any not military used car should be available to both sides. Nothing more annoying than seeing an enemy teams vehicle, when your stuck out in the middle of nowhere, but you cant drive it.
I think we should keep Jets, Helis, AA, Tanks and APCs as team specific, because their complexity. But the land rovers and technicals and civilian cars, in my opinion should be driveable by all teams.
If i go to Iraq, and i'm going to steal a car, I think as long as i know the fundamentals such as starting the car, and accelerating, I should be able to drive it. Obviously vehicles with weapon systems, such as Tanks would be too complicated for opposing nations to understand from a realistic point of view.
Thoughts?

no, have you even seen any footage of troops jacking an enmeys car?
IRL it wouldnt happen, you should have sorted out better transport for yourself or not got into that situation

Re: Civilian Cars driven by both teams.
My approximate list of things that should be drivable by all:
Boats
ATVs
Dirtbikes
HMMVWs(only the 50 cal variant)
Land Rovers
Vodniks
NanJing(the Chinese equivalent to the Vodnik)
Militia Pickup
Insurgent Pickup
Civilian Car(NOT including the bomb car variant)
Civilian Pickup
I mean, it's not exactly hard to get in a different car and drive it, if you know how to drive one. The only difficulty I can see, is people from other armies using the Land Rover(damn brits and their wrong side of the road!), but that's actually simulated pretty well by the player. Personally, I find it awkward to drive the land rover over other cars.

Defiantly not, that just brings back Vbf2. This would be a huge mistake allowing EVERY player on the battlefield to take an enemy car, it would be unrealistic and mass confusion. The only way that I see this becoming a reality is to grant the special forces class with the ability to drive enemy vehicles. But that is as far as it should go in my opinion.

Bikes, neutral cars and boats, that sound just the amount of fair to me.
Wondering though if it could work, or either you can drive every vehicle, or only your team assign vehicles?

Re: Civilian Cars driven by both teams.
What Veritas is suggesting is possible, just unlock the cars in the code when placing the cars. Other vehicles like tanks can still be team locked to the proper team. That's a bit of the engine that gives leeway.
I believe all vehicles were originally teamlocked so when someone ditched it, the grey empty vehicle icon seen in vBF2 would not pop out of nowhere and ruin the stealth. Also, it's rather unrealistic for the grey icon to pop out of nowhere on your map.

I don't know about all this. But I think insurgents ought to be able to hop into an unmanned .50 in a humvee or rover. Last month, a whole bunch of Marines were mobilizing out of Atterbury and using parts of Indy to train. I saw news footage of a civilian (hadji) hopping into a 50 and blasting everyone.

Unlocked military vehicles are not coming back, the Devs have made that very clear and if this debate continues down that line, it'll get locked.
There's scope for discussing unlocked civillian vehicles, but you're going to have to provide pretty convincing evidence that NATO would allow their forces to steal locals' cars.

Re: Civilian Cars driven by both teams.
I am against military vehicles being used by both teams. Im sure that much we can agree on. APCs, Tanks etc..
But, anyone can drive a jeep, really.
Picture this scenario.
Full Squad of enemy are advancing towards your position, your all on your own, but your hiding next to a jeep with great health. They're getting closer.
The jeep has a 50cal.
I know i'd be on that 50 cal, tearing their worlds apart in a second. You can say "oh well it'd be like vanilla." but really, I know it's a reality mod, but some people do still play it like it's BF2, and they will go for the option that gets them kills.
Its not like the insurgents ask the residents of Basrah, "Hey, can i load your car with explosives and drive north so i can blow myself, the british and your precious car up." They take it, I just think it's a good idea to have civilian cars 'unlocked'.
If you dont think so, remember that next time your in the middle of nowhere with an enemy jeep.

I understand where you guys are coming from, but if you're going to let anyone drive civilians cars, only SF should be allowed to. Even then, real SF don't drive actual civilian vehicles, they drive modified civilian vehicles.
I'm pro-SF civilian cars, but not for everyone. In World War II, a soldier hijacking some civilian's car was ok, but in the modern world of political correctness, soldiers are not permitted to steal a civilian's vehicles.
