^^ A zap in the groin often works wonders too

As mammikoura says, the most likely reason they're not coming back is that they're glitched in the landscape: a field dressing often solves that.

A good thing to get your squad mates into the habit of doing is telling you what their status is re are they alive or dead?

It's all fine and well when your team mate shouts "I'm down! Medic!" in finest Hollywood fashion. But they fail to convey the most important info: are they down wounded? Or are they down dead, no chance of recovery.

Getting them to do this helps you fulfil your role more efficiently. If they're only wounded, get them to tell you how many seconds they have left. This helps you prioritise who gets the zap first.

It's really about you setting the rules for your squad and making sure they abide by them: get them to relay alive or dead status and you're on the way to saving your defib charges for those that can benefit from them most which in turn means you'll spend less time trying to revive the dead.

In .7 the medic role has changed a bit.

First, it is now very relevant for other squad-members to locate the body of their squad-members and signal to the medic where they are. These days in a good squad, people will stand on their fellows body, guard it until the medic find you. In the past this was only really necessary on Bi Ming where finding a wounded member in the dark was difficult.

Secondly, because you now have more bandages it widen your options. In a deadly situation you do not have the chance to properly heal somebody because the enemy might burst through the door at any second, three bandages thrown at your fellow will heal him instantaneously. It shouldn't be your main method of healing, if anywhere quiet one should always stick to the medic bag and save the bandages for when you are compromised.

Third, I have seen an increase in people requesting general healing. People have become more careful about dying, especially if you wander far from the rally point or it has been taken down. So the medic job more so than in the past consist of continuous healing even single shot wounds that isn't bleeding given the opportunity.

Four, as a medic you should always prioritize the squadleader, however in the past squadleader equaled keeping a rally point alive, these days he is only significant if two other members are alive as well, yourself included.

Five, remember that vehicle still got minimaps that means if you are the one driving the Humvee you can see all the wounded in the area, but you can't heal people in the back of a Humvee unfortunately. Apc's still work.

-

It would be neat if there was a medic van that could only be driven by medics (so the medic had the minimap and could see where the casuals where), and if you got in the back, and the medic got in the back they could heal several people at once. A bit like the engineer vehicle.

;)

Cover the medics *** if he is healing you dont watch him like a noob !
Ive lost count of the times my team mate has been watching me heal him and i have had to pull my gun cos he's watching me instead of covering me !

Hello everyone.

I have not posted here in a long time, but have been reading a lot lately. I was without a competent PC for about a year and a half - two years, and had a baby, but now, I am finally back on the battlefield. What a difference between whatever version of PR I was on before and .7. Frieking awesome, I am loving it.

On topic:
I played as a medic last night for the first time, and it was pretty tough. I had a hard time reviving for some reason, but fuzzhead was EXTREMELY patient and helpful. Talk about getting the most from the PR experience playing with such a prolific SL. Anyways, my question is: Is there a way to tell, as a medic, who can be revived and who can't be? Is there a different icon by the healthbar or anything? With so many failed revives last night, I was getting a little frustrated.

Thanks in advance!

longhairedhippy - dont be too hard on yourself, you were doing a fine job!

Actually I think one of the main reasons you were having such a hard time is we were fighting against a shit-bag aimbot cheater, so we were gettng an abnormally high amount of headshots. Dont worry =HOG= Coeman dealt with the cheater promptly and he got banned as soon as we confirmed he was indeed cheating.

There is a couple ways to tell if someone has been shot in the head (KILLED- no revived) or critically wounded.

1) the way their body falls when they hit the ground. the rag doll with someone who is shot in the head will be much more exagerated than with a normal body shot, they will usually fall quite a bit farther from the kit bag as well

2) player who can be revived will have an icon show up on the 3d HUD and also the map for a short period of time... if your out of range this wont always show up

3) player who can be revived with immediately call out that "medic!" cry when they fall, as well as giving the player an option to say it twice more. so if the man on the ground cries medic, he CAN be revived. players who were killed DO NOT scream medic or have the options to do it, they just lay there silent.

Hopefully in the future we can make the difference between KILLED an CRIT WOUNDED a bit more noticeable to make the life of a medic a bit more intuitive.... working with the BF2 medic system is a bit of a pita though..

good playing with you man hope to see you again!

Another way is to ask, if you missed the revive icon, bullets are whizzing nearby but you can get to the body safely so you missed the cry for medic, ask, "Are you dead or wounded?", they'll generally tell you.

if they are in your squad best thing is for them to say "down X seconds, or killed"

You can't trust pubbers who aren't in direct voice communication to give you info about death/crit wounded status.

Noted!! Thanks. I wasn't sure if that icon was in fact there for that reason.

Oh...you will be seeing a lot of me. After my last few sessions, I am hooked. I dreamt about it all night (only about 4 hrs of sleep. :) ) Today I went and got a new mouse that has a few more buttons so I can see my map easier and set my talk button...my current lay out sux.

So, my words of advice to new medics...don't give up. It is beter to have a few games of learning the kit so that you are a more valuable squad member in the future. Most guys will help you out if you ask. Medics are in valuable.
