If you really want technicals badly, I guess some some privately funded mercenaries or insurgents or terrorist for that matter would do. It would look pretty good on a map alongside the SUV that that the PR team has already created.
Just as long as actual MEC soldiers which seem like an exceptionally well trained and funded army aren't driving around in technicals and bomb trucks.
Also, I don't really care if you create a topic on it Rhino. Its much more of a hassle to me to go find accurate information sources and post a nice, detailed topic.

its true, the middle east is VERY wealthy although all that money is tied up in like.. 10% of the population or something like that, but im sure most of the 10% is military related. so i do believe the MEC would have no use for technicals, like stated before if they can afford guns like the AK-101 and not AK47s, why would they settle for technicals and not vodniks?

cheap and easily affordable maybe?
Hell our SF teams used technicals in afghanistan and during the iraq invasion. Why? Because it's cheap and you can blend in well. A huge 19 ton vehicle just screams attention.
I like the technical idea because it's low key, although there has to be some room in it for more personell. It screams lonewolf. If we incorporate technicals, we have to give it some limits. Set up a squad around it so you can protect the vehicle and the vehicle can protect the squad.

make spots for a few other guys in the back facing outward in a kneeling position so they can shoot out at guys, and maybe be able to crouch down so they lay down in the truckbed kinda like a tank turret mg gunner can duck down for cover

AK-101's are Better than FAMAS and M16 family of rifles.Riki_Rude_BTYC wrote:like stated before if they can afford guns like the AK-101 and not AK47s, why would they settle for technicals and not vodniks?

Why was the SUV add'ed, is it one of the Dev's car?It would look pretty good on a map alongside the SUV that that the PR team has already created.

I believe there was supposed to be a comma between SAS and Gurkhas in mong's statement. A lot of former Gurkhas do end up working as security contractors, including a fairly large contingent in the Sultan of Brunei's private army. As for Gurkhas having been in the SAS, I'm not sure if it's ever happened. Some books on the SAS mentioned Fijian troopers, but given the dates of the operations, they probably were born/enlisted before Fiji gained independence (1970).Pence wrote:Ex-SAS Ghurkas... Armored and unarmored Suburbans and similar SUVs are used by US federal agencies, including diplomatic missions abroad (embassies), as escort and protective vehicles. Embassy security is partially handled by US Marine Security Guard Detachments.Pence wrote:Why was the SUV add'ed, is it one of the Dev's car?
Army Special Forces also use what they call "Non-Standard Commercial Vehicles" (NSCV), which are armed and armored civilian pickup trucks and SUVs used for mounted patrol and other operations. Toyota Tacoma is one of the models used, partially because it can be carried internally by MH-53J/Ms.

Thanks Eddie. But whats going on with the SUV, are you makeing a gametype to protect a VIP in the SUV or is it a map peice or is it going to be used as you said; in the mounted patrol role, althogh in BF2 patroling is quite pointless. Or is it a command vehical?

It's an armored transport. We plan to have it on an urban map featuring an embassy. Yes, we are working on a close protection game mode.Pence wrote:Thanks Eddie. dont take those SUVs lightly i have seen videos on them, think the Mach 5 meets a Ford Expedition. They dropped tacks, had bullet proof glass, never flat tires, dropped oil slicks, did all sorts of james bond kind of stuff.

America was a tad late into the First World War. They redeemed themself's and came in slightly sooner in the Second. Now they seem determined to start the Third.
