Re: More smaller maps
All this infantry-only BS ruined the core of the Battlefield franchise. BF (or PR) shouldn't be about infantry only! Sure, it's neat to have a few infantry-based maps, but the core idea of BF (going back to the original) is combined arms warfare.
If you want an infantry-only game, go play CoD4...

Well I don't think anyone is talking about PR being about infantry only.'[T wrote:waylay00;718896']All this infantry-only BS ruined the core of the Battlefield franchise. BF (or PR) shouldn't be about infantry only!
So you agree with the topic, that it would be neat to have more new infantry-based maps'[T wrote:waylay00;718896']Sure, it's neat to have a few infantry-based maps

I agree with more urban maps. I have yet to see a single map that captures the urban enviroment, Ejod comes close, but still no dice. I want a bigass city with lots of narrow alley-ways and enterable buildings.

Yes, that sounds nice until people whip out marksmen and snipers and start Heavy ATing each other *cough* Street *cough*Skodz wrote:Actually, I would loveeeeee some small 16/32 sized map with 64 players extremely intense with firefights all over the town. Designed for Close Quarter combat only. Every building destroyable. A small very urban map focused on infantry.
We'd need a new game mode for small maps with option to turn off certain kits ie. AA/ H-AT etc.

Re: More smaller maps
I feel there are enough smaller maps. If anything the game lacks more maps like KASHAN desert, where requires the full implementation of a commander transport helicopters air support and tanks for a swift victory. And who said hugely sized maps with airfields have to be limited to desert maps ? Is it an performance issue ?

Yeah, but I'm just afraid that if PR implements this infantry mode that fuzzhead speaks of, then all the servers will play that mode, and all the newcomers will flock to those servers. It'll be just like vanilla BF2 and all the infantry only servers.
Actually, I wouldn't be that opposed to more infantry-based maps, just as long as they aren't extremely small. For me, that takes the immersion out of it.'[T wrote:BludShoT;718907']So you agree with the topic, that it would be neat to have more new infantry-based maps![]()

Until deviation and suppression are improved, CQB is pretty much rushing on full auto and hoping you hit something. It's too easy to suppress yourself, and you can't move and fire accuratly with the way deviation has been done, until those are fixed, small infantry centric maps are just going to get annoying.

Re: More smaller maps
Well I dislike infantry, but aside from that while there aren´t that many good infantry only maps, there are even less good fully combined arms maps.
There are only 2 maps with jets/attack helicopters. Golf of oman had 2 attack helicopters, but while I like that map it is very small and the view distance is small, plus it is just another camp the carrier with AA map.
So while 16 player maps are needed, maps with infantry, tanks, APCs and jets/helicopters are even more needed in my opinion.
Qinling is one of the best maps, apart from the J-10 imbalance. It has literally everything really, unlike some maps wich are only tanks, or only jets, or only trucks....

an infantry mode for PR is simply giving server admins more options, im sure most servers will still run with the normal vehicle setup.

Re: More smaller maps
i do agree with the quote above, as you can see im a jet whore, so im always up for more maps with combined arms, however im am talking about small maps pureley for filling servers up. as without a full server how can you play a c0ombined arms map effectivly?

Re: More smaller maps
I dont see that many bolting on Kashan desert on the servers I play regularly like tactical gamers or 10th. Only reason I see players bolting (me included) is that its almost midgnight when Kashan comes up
. I see project reality as a blend between operation flashpoint making use of an engine that is slightly less crappy meaning it is a joint operation simulator in the first place. I feel being taken into combat by the black hawk covering in min what would be a 20 min walk is halve the fun
and if you take away that you have call of duty 4 with not so good graphics (though there would still be the awesome teamplay). We should think about making larger maps more interesting, why does it always have to be desert >.< ? Damn you desert combat mod.

Re: More smaller maps
Yes so we can walk 30min at arse-end of the world :d uh:
No serious i support it to bring the smaller maps back. For me are the rounds on the big maps just to long. After work i havent to enought time to play 3 hours on a map
. The smaller maps are just faster so i can play some complete round instead just the start or the end.

Re: More smaller maps
There are enough smaller maps. As far as big maps go there really is only Kashan and Quinling which offer the full mounty. There are other maps that come close, but sport no airplanes. If your fav server happens to load Kashan you can always change server if ure short on time. I feel there arent enouhg quality PR Server to have one focused on smaller maps and one running only Kashan quinling and the like.
At times iam like aww no when its like 11 and Kashan pops up so I change server other times I enjoy the teamwork of all PR has to offer on Kashan.

Re: More smaller maps
Personally I think the medium sized maps work best. They tend to have a vareity of environments, urban, rural etc, offer different ways of approaching the map. The smaller ones tend to end up being vBF2 with PR weapons, nade spam, prone diving etc. I'm staring to get EJOD fatigue a bit, and Sreet, need i say more!
I love inf combat, but tend to find mid range woodland stuff more interesting, better tactical options, making use of terrain etc...
The massive maps are ok. QL is better than Kashan IMHO. The terrain makes for more interesting encounters and offers some cover from armour if inf and airpower if in vehicles. Kashan is a bit too much like being in the middle of a sand pit with too many toys in it.
Ideally for me maps should allow for all aspects of commbined arms to shine, in different areas. E.g urban/heavily forested areas on certain parts, more open plains on others etc, allowing a mix of vehicles and inf to truely mutually support. ATM i feel it tends to be either the inf support the tanks, as in QL and Kashan where they tend to just be flag movers after the main fight is done or the inf run the show with the armour being almost a side show, they help but arent essential (fools road, EJOD, for example).
