You can have a go on my mosque if you like, It's not really finished but could be good practice.
It's based on the Friday Mosque in Herat Afghanistan.

HangMan: BF2 Editor, it has very strict limitations memory wise, and crashes all the time. Its like a girl. Treat it with respect and take it slow and you'll get places. Rush and get ahead of yourself and it will turn around and punch you in the mouth

Yeah never mind It's not Uv mapped yet, still needs a lot of work... Maybe in a few day or something I could send a more finished version.

If you want to just edit skins that are already ingame, you'll need Photoshop, and the nVidia tools, which can be found here:SuperTimo wrote:what sort of programes do you need for texturing? id love to have a go at the typhoon model, its a good texture but i feel its flawed in certain ways.
Adobe Photoshop Plug-ins
Those let you open and save .dds images, which are what the textures are saved as for the game.
I think you can do stuff with the GIMP as well, which is free. let me have a look.
EDIT: yeah, here is a DDS plugin for the GIMP:

eddie: the MoD aren't just going to start blurring their faces so they look 'well ard' are they?

Re: [Question] Texturing
Scot a good resource for texturing is Game Artist Forums
Register and take part in their speed texturing competition. They post the model and you texture it. You dont have to post your results but its a good way to get some small simple models to work on that can be textured quite quickly. Things like barrels, chests and boxes that have less sheer space to texture than weapons and vehicles, but can still be very highly detailed.

Re: [Question] Texturing
as Mescaldrav said game-artist.net's speed texturing comp is a great place to start. If you dont have much idea of what to do and work slow - dont despair, just take it easy and finish it in our own phase. The speed texturing comp is a great place to learn texturing because its usually very low poly objects that already have been UV mapped.

Best way is also learn by example, look at other people's work and to break down how they achieved that effect.
