Ambusher class improvement...

In insurgency mode it seems to me that a logical change should be made to the ambusher.

I would add a set of binos to the class.
Not for spotting....but for scanning for approaching vehicles.

I would also add a wrench.
This would allow the ambusher to pick up IEDs in order to replace or move them to another position. It would also allow them to steal other explosives from the opposing force if found. This is logical as most IEDs are made of unexploded ordinance.

No to the wrench. With the wrench insurgents would be able to repair bridges, which the Devs don't want. Insurgents shouldn't have the ability to repair bridges - which IRL is a massive undertaking.

Well as it is now AFAIK insurgents cant repair bridges. - so i say yes for the wrench. (or some other tool with the pickup ability)

The dude is right...

As is.....the insugent civie cannot repair bridges with his wrench which is already in game.
It can be coded.

*If there is a worry about the ambusher fixing vehicles....I rarely see civies doing this either.....but it would be possible I think to assume that someone capable of building an explosive.....could quite possibly have knowledge enough to fix or do a small repair to a vehicle.

AFAIK engie has got "normal wrench" and civies have crewman wrench, that's why civies are unable to repair bridges... There are two types of wrenches in PR (last time I checked).

i alwyas thought it was weird that when it comes to PR you hear people talk about symettry alot, but when its Insurgent vs. Regular there is such a symettrical balance that its almost overwhelming.

For clarification of my post.....the insurgents should NOT be able to repair bridges.

My suggestion of adding the wrench was to enable them to "pick-up" explosives, both that they have deployed AND that the enemy has employed.

No bridge rebuilding by insurgents UNLESS they are "lucky" enough to get an engineer's kit.

It's still like that. :)

I'd like to see Ambushers with binocs, but a wrench for defusing explosives, not too sure. It could be handy.

If the IEDs are not going to be made more realistic, than why not allow them to be picked up and moved?

I almost want to say that the IED's should have a much bigger explosion radius, along with possibly an effect a little smaller than that of a JDAM.

Not so much you can see it from far away but at the general location theres alot of dust. I wouldnt mind it so that one IED on one side of the street would seriously cripple an APC driving on the other side of the street... at the moment IED's are like.. 4 SLAMs...

If IED's are made more powerful they need to be much larger and easier to see. The current in game model of two tubes of symtex just isn't enough explosive to warrant such a large explosion.
If brute force doesn't work.......your not using enough of it.

The Ambusher should have some other primary weapon, such as an AK-74U, instead of an SKS.

I like this it makes sense.
Also perhaps taking out repairable bridges all together would be a good idea. You can't rebuild buildings and walls so maybe bridges should be destroyed permanently too? As far as I'm aware there is always another way to go.

I don't think so clark. The ambushers purpose is to ambush with IED's not be a CQB whore. The sks is for protection.
If brute force doesn't work.......your not using enough of it.

You do realize that this 'wrench' could be coded to only pick up IEDs right? :rolleyes:

Kit containing such a weapon would need to be limited and not a pick-up kit, so GB couldn't use it against Insurgents and Insurgents couldn't spam it.

If the ambusher is given the ability to pick up allied explosives there should be a chance of the mine or c4 exploding given that just because he can make a bomb doesn't mean that he is trained in explosives removal. Lots of people can make a bomb, doesn't mean you put them on the bomb squad and let them fiddle with explosives they aren't familiar with. So there should be a possible consequence for them.

Im sure the simple 'Press G to pick up' could be added for simplicity. Much like the ones for graplin hooks.
