there's to many scopes on the battlefield

Post by Anderson29 »

despite what alot of yall mite think. i think there are to many scopes on the battlefield. IMO i thought the game was funner before everyone became uber snipers with there scoped weapons. firefights seemed to last longer and the squads manuevered more. from my experiance in the army (and im sure this varies through out the militarys of the world) we only had Squad leaders and above with acogs, and DZ marksmens with their scoped m14's, and all saw gunners had optics (i forget what the nomenclature is and the magnafication of it is). everyone else had eotech or red dot cco (m68 ). so if a platoon has 3 squads of 9, a PL, medic, and PSG, (i left out weapons squad, FO,and RTO since there are no 240's and no need for radio personel) that means about 35% of our platoon had scoped optics....in game i would say atleast 70% or more in a server have scoped optics....and thats to much IMO. all ya gota do is get rid of the scoped riflemens kits and change the LAT optic.
i know militarys are trying to get as many scope type optics to the line that they can, but none the less i think removing alot of the scopes that some kits have would improve gameplay IMO.

Having a deviation system that prevents laser rifle shots would be better, imo. Image

Other militaries are different. All L85s issued to troops come with a SUSAT attached, I believe.

Yeah, infact, there are realistically too few optics in the game.
Problem is, accuracy is too high with most assault rifles (and deviation is perhaps too high in some aspects).

Its just assault rifles being too accurate, atm.

Give the DEVs some time to sort out the deviation and everything will be as good as... better?

i thought deviation was ok. Considering we are hypothetically trained soldiers, with scopped weapons..

They did have a ballistics thing being worked on but it was rejected for whatever reason.

I think its done to realistic values on the scopes you get

The problem is with the player in my opinion. For instance, the player can hold his weapon perfectly steady despite being unsupported. If it was possible to incorporate working weapon sway into the game (or port PR to BF2142) then the random deviation could be reduced to reflect the accuracy of the weapon whist clamped. The player would be forced to adopt a supported position to reduce the sway as much as possible and time his shots accordingly.

Actually, no it isn't. It actually depends on what aspect ratio you are using. F.Y.I the ACOG has approximately 4.91x zoom in an aspect ratio of 4:3 and approximately 5x zoom in an aspect ratio of 5:4. In real life, the ACOG in question has 4x zoom. You can roughly work out the magnification by dividing the apparent size of the object through the scope, by the the unmagnified size at a set range.

I was surprised as well to see so many scopes in the army. Altough I dont mind them. Just stay down and out of sight!

Scopes are realistic and are to be kept. This has been discussed so many times before I'm surprised it hasn't been locked before now.
