Force people to read the manual before downloading?

Post by pwn3ge106 »

They should have it so before you can even get NEAR the download button, you have to read through a manual that you have to spend 20 seconds a page on, so you have the time to skim through for older members, and for newer members its an incentive to read it.

Personally as much as I like to have a policy of being strict but fair, this is abit overkill.

As a Veteran player of Project Reality I feel it's up to us to help teach the newer generation of players. I myself don't always come across new players too often, but for those that are familiar with PR should not chide the new guys. It's up to us to atleast explain to them that the game is complex and urge them to atleast browse through the manual after explaining to them some of the minor aspects of PR.

Truth be told, the new guys are quite innocent and most have open minds and are willing to teamwork. They just do not possess the know how. If they are in your squad, ask them to pick up a Scoped Rifleman kit and hang around the squad leader. I'd urge you not to make them play as a Medic, as it's simply too demanding. Keep it simple and keep that teamwork up, it will hopefully inspire a newer brand of player that will revive some of our diluted sympathys.

However, the people that are truely in need of a serious checkup with reality are most of our seasoned Project Reality players. They themselves are mostly loners, who one man tank and skitter off with a sniper kit. You cannot blame the new guys for the tomfoolery of our seasoned players. Especially those that have been familiar to the mod for over 6 months or more.

Besides even if players are forced to read the manual, guess what? They'll just keep clicking the "next" button anyways till they can download it. Even if they read the manual, they still may not grasp the concepts till they see it for themselves. Patience is a virtue so invest in our future and contribute to the community again. Each and everyone of us sculpt and shape the newer generation of players to PR, because for every imperfection made someone else has to fix it before it's too late.

I didn't exactly read the manual.
I just learned from experience and from all the good people that play this mod.

I never read the manual myself, and I'm doing just fine!

It all depends on the person. Some people can grasp PR without ever setting an eye on the manual, while others have to quote the manual like passages from the Bible to learn how to play well.

cant really work since there are a lot of download mirrors not just this one...unless you're talking about in the setup, just like here once before you post come to a screen where you has to read forum rules.

This has been suggested a lot of times, and it it's still not necessary for me, and think it will rather scare people.

This is locked. If you search for 'read' or 'manual' in this sub-forum, you'll find a lot. Please do use the search function next time, I'll help you this time:

Thread 'RTFM'

There are more if you search well,
