Why I think that the Cell leader needs to be more defense oriented.

Post by DavidP »

Hi guys long time no see. Been playing TF2 and BF2 demo, Just re-installed BF2 and PR .75.

So here's what I was thinking why doesn't the Cell Leader have a more defense oriented Officer kit? Right now he's got some really nice Offensive Equipment, But should'nt he be more defense oriented? I admit I do love being a Cell Leader when I get the chance(GP-25 is Great in my hands) But my Squad yells at me when they see me assaulting a position or doing some other risky things that can get me killed.

I know their complaints are valid, But the AK47 with GP-25 is just too good to waste.

I was thinking would'nt it be better if the AK47 with GP-25 was made a Pickup kit, And the Cell leader be given a More defense oriented weapon? Like a Carbine or SMG.

ya i get your point, he does need to lead his men. But he shouldn't be attacking as much, still since he cant set RP's, what else can he do?

Its not like you need to be alive, as Soucy points out, no need to set RPs. In actual combat you much like any other insurgent.

Just that, if the Brits kill you, they get more intel points than the average insurgent.

I like having the GP25. Makes me last longer, so they get my epic points less often.

Or just give him the vanilla AK74u with that red dot. Even though I doubt they would get their hands on a red dot for that gun... I'm pretty sure there is a kit with that gun but it's not on any map. I think I saw it on the Kashan Desert training map in the early versions.

I get his point about not running off and getting killed, but on the other hand assault and ambush is the insurgents main tactic. They set up ambushes as their main form of contact. Meaning they need to be able to put alot of firepower into an area quickly and then get away. Makes sense that he would have the GP

The grenade launcher is perfect for the cell leader in my opinion. Especially since they are getting some working sights. The cell leader can just sit back and blast away with HE or cover his squad's movements with smoke.

Ya but ned the problem is that Cell Leader is an Under used kit, Because of the Insurgent's style of play, And when used properly it's always to the chagrin of your team.

Personally I love being Cell Leader only for the GP-25. Tight shots with UBGL's are my specialty. But the problem with that is I dont always get to be SL and have 2 other people in my squad. I would love for the GP-25 to be made a pickup kit, And Cell leader become more defense oriented for the sake of the team.

Please don't give the cell leader a shorter ranged weapon!

The insurgent's have enough trouble at range already, they can only really attack at either short ranger which means either hiding rushing up close or ambushing and getting stuck in so they need a kit that allows them to close the gap and the Gp-25 lets them do this.

Maybe you should give him ammo, medpacks, anything the leader of a civilian group would have. It would make sense that the leader stays back and has many of the valuable supplies for the group. More grenades, more mags for the AK, bandages, etc. Binocs too.
