Combat ranges.

The ability to see as far as the human eye (and the ability to fight in those ranges with tanks and infantry, etc.) can see in PR has really made this mod stellar and extraordinary.

This feature really sold this game to me FOREVER.

Thank you all!

p.s. What version was this feature introduced again?

here is a question for you... how far can the human eye really see... hmm

well the curvature of the earth has alot to do with it, so technically the human eye can see forever if the earth was flat and there was nothing blocking the view, you would not be able to make out anything at distance but you can still see... try it. next time you are on a large hill see how far you can see

but yes they have done well :P

So when we look at space we're looking at infinity? Or technically the ever expanding dark matter and curvature of space-time...

what are you talking about? the draw distances seem to be only slightly better than the largest vBF2 maps.

Not quite, there are particulates and other bits of debris in space that block out the most distant light, as well as the diffraction effect of the atmosphere and orbital debris. You can see a *VERY* long way in space, but if you could see for infinity, you would see nothing but solid white light.

If space is infinitely large, there must be an infinite number of stars. An infinite number of stars would therefore be visible from every minute angle, meaning the night sky should in theory be nothing but pure starlight. Either space is not infinite, and there are a finite amount of stars or there are other things blocking out the huge majority of stars.

dunno about that, but even if we could it wouldn't me clear we lose resolution pretty fast.

I remember some posted screens of what kashan looked like with no view distance...it was pretty epic.

Even so, there are certain view distance bug issues, like if you look in one particular angle certain trees in the background disappear, but that's just the crappy BF2 engine.

fact is, there are no other stars, only the sun of our stellarsystem.
the rest what we see is an installation created by the nasa, just to make us think there are stars.

Hmmm, I thought the human eye was purely a "recording" device. It doesn't "project" sight at any distance. If a distant source is bright enough to reach our eye...we can see it.

As Bruce Lee Said : "Do NOT focus on the finger or you will miss all of the heavenly Glory."
