PLA tank improvement

Post by cannibal23 »

Often i find myself driving the PLA tank and cursing its inability to climb hills properly. the C2 seems to have no trouble climbing any hill at all.
last night the tank had trouble even driving up a very minor 10 degree incline on the road from pla main on qinling. is this tanks inability to manage hills supposed to represent the short commings of this out of date tank model (type 90 or 96)? can we tweak the hill climbing performance or change it to the main battle tank that sino defence uses now (type 99) so both armies have their respective latest greatest armor? i would prefer just tweaking the hill climbing performance as its an easier and faster fix then having to create a new vehical.

Well, that might have something to do with the fact that PLA tanks are c*** against the Challenger II and M1A2 Abrams......... It is a good tank, but it would have done much better in Vietnam than in the upcomming war.

i agree that the C2 and Abrams are both good machines. however having the PLA faction use a very out dated tank against the C2 (worlds finest) is unrealistic. Sino defense uses a much newer and much better tank now (ZTZ99 or type 99). this newer tank is still not better then the C2 but is at least comparable. fortunately, as was pointed out in the link provided by Rhino, someone is already on the job of making said tank for the game.

here is the type 99's specs

Type Tracked, armoured
Crew 3 (commander, gunner, driver)
Length 11m
Width 3.4m
Height 2.2m
Weight 54 tonnes

Engine 150HB liquid-cooled, turbocharged diesel
Engine power 1,500hp
Fuel capacity N/A
Transmission Mechanical, planetary
Suspension Torsion bar
Track Metallic, with removable rubber pads and rubber-tyred road wheels

Cruising range 400km, or 600km with external fuel tanks
Maximum speed (road) 80km/h
Maximum speed (off-road) 60km/h
Average cross-country 35~40km/h
Fording depth 5m with snorkel

Main weapon 125mm/51-calibre smoothbore gun (41 rounds) with autoloader
Auxiliary weapons 1X 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine gun (300 rounds)
1X 7.62mm coaxial machine gun (2,000 rounds)

Self-defence Optic-electronic countermeasures suite
Radio Receive/transmit, telephone, laser communications and IFF
NBC protection Collective, over-pressure
Fire suppression Automatic

That reminds me, when are we going to get a T-90 that doesn't violently swerve to the left every time one tries to drive it up anything resembling a hill?
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

wouldve been nicer if the devs fixed up existing factions instead of throwing even more into the mix, case in point, the PLA.

ehhh ye... We would never make anything for the PLA or MEC, ye no new QBZ or G3 series of ARs with lots of different verations or sniper rifles or anything like that? no we wouldn't dream of doing such things, all we care about is the Brits and the US factions.

The fact of the matter is, they have good enough place holders and we still have things missing in for the brits and other factions that have no placer holders, or very pore place holders. The Type 98 aint THAT bad and to make a Type 99 would take a lot of work, more than most of you would think so from a developer point of view we have bigger fish to fry.

guys chill. Rhino provided a link above about someone making a type 99. seems to me a fix is already in progress, lets be patient and see what the future holds. the devs are a busy bunch working their bums off making updates for our FREE game. they have been made aware of user concerns regarding the current tank, so lets not go off on them about it. just wait and see what happens since they have been informed.

reccomend this thread get locked for now as the issue has been answered as per Rhino's posted link, and there is no more real need for discussion on the topic at this time.
