Build Firebases and Bunkers... Build as many as you are allowed!! Vehicles spawn every 5 minutes.. If you spawn at a firebase and there is a freshly spawned vehicle in front of the FB or bunker and you arent in need of a vehicle.. jump in the thing and move it 10 feet so that another vehicle can spawn in 5 minutes... Soon you will be awash in vehicles..
Please no!!
That isnt the answer either.....it isnt about the number or abundance of vehicles.
It is about properly and efficiently using the assets at hand.
The number of vehicles in game is sufficient....its just that they are all to often solo'd and dropped.
Saw it last night in my own squad 4 different times.
Some "yahoo" neglected to shift his respawn to the RP causing him to spawn at the main....he then hops the 1st landy he can and solos back out to our position where he ditches it over a click away so as not to give up our position.
I was appreciative of him rejoining the squad and all.....but he hosed countless players by doing it the way he did.

The answer? Creating a system where the Squad Leader must request vehicles from the Commander, which are then spawned at a nearby spawn point and locked for his squad. Here are some rough ideas:
Each squad leader is allowed to request one vehicle at a time, and there is a time delay equal to the current respawn time for that type of vehicle.
Commander consent is required to request vehicles, but a limited number will be available (i.e. 1 tank/jet, 1 APC, 1 helo, 2 supply trucks) in case the Commander is absent. (This is meant to encourage playing Commander without screwing the team over completely in the absence of one.)
Once the SL requests his vehicle, it cannot be used by someone in another squad or someone who is not in a squad.
If the SL reaches his destination with, for example, a HMMWV, he can opt to return the vehicle to the 'request pool'.
Vehicles can only be requested from Main Bases and Forward Outposts. At both, they will spawn only at pre-determined spawn points (to prevent exploitation).
Negative points will be given if a vehicle is destroyed within 5 minutes of being requested, and points will be rewarded for every 5 minutes the vehicle exists before being destroyed.
Clark may be on to something. But it's really a tough problem.
With every new feature, someone can find a way around and screw it up.
Problem is that you only die once in real life.
Not in a game.
If squadleader could make the vehicle reappear at base as soon as your VoIP squad is out,
it could simulate combined units being transported to the action/frontlines.
Then maybe the respawn time could depend on the distance you've driven in the car/truck or something. Set the RP and head out. Fight for the rally, and if it's destroyed, spawn back at main, then there'll probably be some vehicles there for the squad to use again.
If a SL could make it show up at base when the squad's done with it,
there won't be vehicles all over the map.
Because at this point, nobody can take a vehicle back like this.
No one drives it back that's for sure.
People will memorize it, and tell the squadleader.
Like setting a rallypoint up.
Still it's up to the individual, but this would help keeping the army vehicles together and not all over the battlefield.
How about a guy in seat nr.3 could right click to switch on a self destruct in 30 sec? The explosives would be automatically disarmed if someone entered that vehicle.

What about a Deadmatch game mode for small maps ? Just like Counter-Strike, everyone has only 1 life, once they're dead, they must wait for the next round!! That would rock!
hx.bjoffe wrote:Commander-issued vehicles and squad-locked jeeps would be swell, but both have been suggested in the past.
That's why the responsibility of issuing vehicles and such should be on an on-demand basis by a Squad Leader with two SMs. Using the system in my earlier post, for example, an SL in an attack helo squad would be able to spawn a squad-locked helicopter whenever he needs it - a helo which is automatically bound to his squad.
Only a system like this could prevent the average noob from stealing a single vehicle and driving it 2km to his death, and it's the only version of that re-suggested idea that seems like it could actually work.
Oh, and if the SL is the noob, it would be nice if his ability to request vehicles was tied to the Commander or revoked if abused, but the mod is trying to move away from requiring the Commander, and a change like this would make the Commander essential.
i think the request spawn vehical idea will cause too much asset hogging as well as be too restrictive.
realisticly this problem is the same as many other problems that plague this game. its not the game its the players. someone above posted that no matter what angle you try to take to prevent this, someone will find a way to mess with it. yes thats exactly correct. leaving vehicals all over the place is the same as people taking the a10 for practice on a loaded server. its just a player that dosent get how team play and assets are supposed to work. it dosent mater what you do to try to prevent this kind of duchebaggery as you will only make using assets more of a headache for regular players where as these tards will just find another way arround it.
Too restrictive? I understand where you're going with the entire Commander thing, but I wish there was a way to regulate abuse of such a vehicle spawn system without dragging the Commander argument into it.
However, if you bypass the entire Commander requirement, vehicle requests would probably be the best option of all the others suggested. Granted, there should be some pre-existing trucks on the map. Even then, however, on-demand vehicles at the SL's order could help greatly in keeping empty trucks off the battlefield, as they should only appear when needed.
In response to cannibal23, this kind of system isn't all that complicated. When the Squad Leader needs a vehicle, he presses a button on the Command Rose, and the Commander accepts or denies the request. If he accepts, the vehicle spawns in its usual place (NOT at the SL's feet), and it is squad-locked until someone gets in. (Not possible?) If the SL is intelligent enough to be a SL, he can figure this out, and it also strengthens the chain of command between SLs and the Commander by allowing the Commander to send his SLs on specific missions with specific vehicles.
Think of it this way: the Commander is the 'player' of an RTS, and he has the responsibility of moving 30 pieces divided into 5 squads, each one of them with their own mind, will, ego, and intelligence quotient. The system I propose would allow the Commander to better control his 'units' in the RTS, and reduce the risk of them running amok with his valuable vehicles. Imagine a game of chess on the computer where all your knights decide to run off and get killed, destroying your strategy - not fun, is it? Additionally, it gives the Commander the ability to send his SLs on specific missions, with specific allocated vehicles, without using more than their share.
Vehicle requests from squad leaders simply keep the team's vehicles in check - it can never be 100% foolproof, but it can stop people from driving vehicles to abandonment as frequently, and even give the SLs a chance to return said vehicles to the request pool when they're finished using them.
