Paratroopers

Post by darkwarrior666 »

BRACE FOR RESUGGESTION.

But seriously. I did a search. Every single one ended with 're-suggestion, pls use search function next time'. For three pages. Has a dev every actually given a viable reason as to why not to include paratroopers? If this gets locked(probable), I'd like to have that at least answered before the lock is placed.

Anyway...since this is supposed to be a suggestion. Here's my idea for the Paratrooper class:

1 Assault Rifle, scoped
1 Sidearm(pistol)
2 Frag Grenades
2 Smoke Grenades
1 Red Smoke Grenade
1 Field Dressing
Binoculars
Parachute

Decently equipped, but has nothing special, since they need room for the chute and all. Smoke grenades in case they need to mask their landing, red smoke in case they need extraction. Scoped rifle, due to the fact that they might land far from the battle. (botched approach, anyone?) Everything else is pretty much standard issue.

But how would you implement Paratroops into the PR maps? Paratroops are supposed to be dropped away from the operation zone where they regroup and move into position. The only way to do it realistically is to have a spawn spot on the map further into enemy territory (on the ground) which is where the paratroops have regrouped at then have it disappear 10 seconds later.

why would paras work here?

Its daytime, the maps are too small and they would probably have to be dropped from a cargo plane like a Hercules.

This isn't WW2!! chopper insertions are faster ingame anyway

and do not resuggest unless you have something new to add

I know it will be locked.....but.....

I dont think a new class is necessary.
I do however think that chutes have a place in an organized game.

Since the use of chutes has been proven to have rules such as "must be deployed above a certain hieght" etc. etc......I think they should be useable for organized insertions.

A helo pilot could take a squad up to a designated altitude.....once the destination/altitude has been reached......he gives the command to bail out....this command is already on the comm rose.

Once again, I think it would have a place in the game again now that the chutes have better parameters.
Just so long as we dont get ANY vanilla usage of them.

1. There is no place for parachuting in on the battlefield in PR. The type of battles being fought doesn't really allow for it.

2. It ends up in para-spamming n00bery, ruining gameplay because everybody will just drop in on the flags from the sky.

3. The British "desert" soldiers are the Parachute Regiment, so in a way, they're in already. ;)

4. It's been suggested before, so it'll get the lock. Again.
