[MOD] LTB's, Kit Variants, and More! - OpenPR [WIP]
I'm working on a small modification for PR. It's called OpenPR: Basically, it uses the current build of PR. It allows players to request something to be added to this mini-mod. Not exactly sure how to describe it, but anyway; straight to the point.
I'm looking for a small team who's somewhat familiar with modding PR, or BF2 period to help create this open version of PR.
So far, the main goal is to figure out a way to use the BF2 reward unlock system to add variants to kits, so, lets say if you wanted to be a... parajumping spec-ops guy, you'd click the normal switch-weapons button as you would in BF2 to change to that kit variant.
There is one VERY useful tool that I've made so far, called an LTB (Laser Targetted Beacon). It's a small grenade that officers, and special operations carry. It's the throwable version of the SOFLAM. Lets say, you're in a heated battle, and theres choppers going all around, but the chopper doesn't have time to figure out exactly where you are on the map due to the fear of being shot down, a squad leader or special operations person would choose that from their kit-list, and throw it into an area, then the SL would order their troops to withdraw from that area, so a Cobra, or Apache can fly in, lock onto it, and blow the areas, and enemies to shreds. It was mainly meant for Littlebirds, and I'm working on a way to make it compatible with it, so the LB's can just spray the area with bullets, and take out a good amount of people while at it.
Next feature: Parachuting: Two spawn-screen selectable PR kits (rifleman, and officer) will be equipped with parachutes, for paradropping into hostile area from a helicopter, though, the downside to this, you can only use the parachute once every five minutes (to simulate the action of repacking the parachute into it's backpack).
A lot more ideas to come, but those are the main ones.
Thanks!

under who's authority ?Rapier wrote:I'm working on a small modification for PR. It's called OpenPR: Basically, it uses the current build of PR.
you cant just go modding someone else's work willy nilly, PR is protected by copyright law.

Smeg: Fuzz commands a lot and promotes good teamwork, db flips vehicles, Bosco is an all-round nub, Outlawz is an SP whore, Nickbond is a friggin ninja and Rhino gets kicked for being a n00b.

Sorry to bring the smart card on you, but if you recall, you did too; plus, it's not like I'm gonna say "I DID ALL THIS ON MY OWN, EVEN PR ITSELF". I'll give proper credit. It's not for commercial use either, meaning I'm making no money of it.[R-DEV]Nickbond592 wrote:under who's authority ?

And plus, same thing with the training mod, they modified your work.. Everyone was okay with it, think of it like that, but with this instead. It's a simple mini-mod with a few things added/removed.

You still need to ask a Project Manager.Rapier wrote:Sorry to bring the smart card on you, but if you recall, you did too; plus, it's not like I'm gonna say "I DID ALL THIS ON MY OWN, EVEN PR ITSELF". Making a Asset whatever it be with the end goal being it'll be in PR and then near completion offering it to the PR mod team is a whole different kettle of fish than Dl'ing PR, editing it and calling it a new mod no matter how many times you put PR in the name.Rapier wrote:Sorry to bring the smart card on you, but if you recall, you did too; plus, it's not like I'm gonna say "I DID ALL THIS ON MY OWN, EVEN PR ITSELF". permission was asked for and approval given hence why the training map (with altered spawn points and times) is still here, easily accessible and encouraged upon to download. And plus, same thing with the training mod, they modified your work.. @Rapier: Its a big difference making a new map and making a mod out of a mod...

Project Reality is fully copyrighted and editing it without our permission could end up in drastic actions.

Not sure if anyone read this.Rapier wrote:Hmm, well, where would I go/who would I email to get official permission?
And it's a mini-mod, not a full-fledged mod. It's not like we'll be making our own models, and etc. Just re-scripting some things. Think of it as... a semi-reality (if I get permission to continue).
Would you feel any better if I were to completely rewrite the vanilla BF2, to match yours? I can do that you know, and technically, I wouldn't be breaking any copyrights, since I would be the one coding it, and I wouldn't be using your script.
(I'm a determined person, if you can tell)

ye, you will still need permission from us to do a mini-mod.Rapier wrote:Not sure if anyone read this.

PM me about it.
