AFAIK, Sargin will have some heavy assets whenever it comes out.
IMO, Basrah is good as it is. Why fix something that isnt broken?

Give insurgents a way out of the palace, spread around or move the pick up kits, give the brits an Apache, hide all the caches where the heli can´t get them = awesome basrah.

Re: Al Basrah - balance issues?
Main reasons why brits loose:
1. Usual picture is this: 1-2 squads have RP-s and SM-s are activly searching the ammodumps. Rest of the team screw around all over the map minding their own business.
2. Building the fire base may end up in catastrophe for brits because all insurgent army will be there. Brits try to defend it and nobody looks for cashes.
Winning tactic:
1. Armour supports the infantry when entering the city.
2. Armour itself does´nt enter the city
3. Brits have multiple RP-s all over the city, not one fire base outside the city.
4. Brits have good chopper pilot.

i loved being insurgents on that map me and my guys would put C4 on a bike and have a cive drive it out to a brits APC or have him pull to to a group of brits and throw rocks at them. then he would tell us to blow the bike killing lots of brits after doing this over and over a bit the brits shoot all insurgents on sight and we keep geting tickets. keep the rest of my RAMBO VBF2 team members going lolcombatwombat wrote:Does anyone else feel like insurgents win at least 2/3 of the time on Al Basrah? I feel like the requirement for Brits to work together and use assets carefully along with the way insurgent team can play in a more "decentralized" way works in heavily in favor of the insurgents on public servers where around 1/2 the players are newbies accustomed to VBF2.
I don't know if this is really a balance issue, as it's hard to say who would win when both teams had good players. Do you think it's worth increasing the number of tickets the Brit team has to make the W/L ratio even?
maybe we should give the brits the AH-64 and insurgents cives suicide bomb vest that only the cives can get. then have them run out there and hug the brits.

actually, i believe they DO want it for the insurgent side because it fits well. 4 RPGs? (Oo) thats a bit much. i think what you want is for the brits to whitewash the insurgents with little or no effort.R.J.Travis wrote:and lets see they want run and gun in this game last i looked no they did not.
you may only see a true brit team once a day they need to take out all but 4 rpgs and the grenade launcher and give it 8 smokes. then gameplay will be way better off.
and for anybody that hasnt played v0.5 let me inform you, that there were gunships on albasra, it was SOOOO easy to just bombard the insurgents into oblivion with the cobra...so much so that the cobra stole all the action away from the ground fighters...and made the match a very bitter experiance for the Opfor.

That idea is quite good, except i wouldnt put it on the civie.

but with the civie you would no think of them as attacking you. you dont see guys with AK-47 trying to hug an troops then blow him self up. its someone that looks like a civie with the bomb under his clothing. if we were to have bomb vest in the game then do it right. you wanna make the brits really think ware and how to move you troops around. and it will keep 1 or 2 squads from runing after 1 civie.
iv killed over 2 squads worth of brits and 1 APC and put another APC out of the fight with just 1 civie driving the bike out to the APC and throwing rocks at them. i think it was like 16 or 17 kills for 1 IED.
another thing if you put down the IED it should look like a trash bag or something low profile so someone is more likely to drive but or something like this

Re: Al Basrah - balance issues?
ii was thinking what if it was made into a night map. brits would still have all the same gear and stuff + 1 AC-130 and give the insurgents bomb vest and extra weapons cashes and more of the AA weapons. oh ya and maybe NVG or better yet flash lights. and being night the IEDs would be harder for the brits to see. i think over all this map at night would make it harder for both sides and maybe even some FF problems to but to me i think i would be fun. most part to the fact most of the CQB training ops i do are at night.
