Littlebirds able to drop ammo bags
Is there anyway that littlebirds can drop ammo like the BlackHawk, Hueys etc.... A lot of times i have been flying transport and my sqd has just been in a firefight and are out of ammo. It would be great if you could just fly in there and drop 3,4 ammo bags just like a supply create.

Re: Littlebirds able to drop ammo bags
have to agree here, afaik blackhawks etc have room to carry supplies, but the LB doesn't. I'd like it, but I don't think it would be realisticNickO wrote:Its not a fully blown transport helicopter.. Its basically a scout heli with 1 metal frame on each side.
I also really dont know where it would keep the crate.

Or just carry o rifleman to drop an ammo bag, not ideal but it would help.

The transport choppers are able to drop ammo because that's what they do in real life. Little birds don't do it, so no, I don't think it's likely they'll be given the ability to drop ammo.

No they wouldnt be able to drop a crate....and its unlikely they would be able to drop off a ammo cache like the humvees, landys, etc.....
But it is practical and realistic that they could drop off packs and duffles of ammo and medical supplies. I personally have recieved these gifts via a rooftop ressuply.
Softbags readily fit behind the seats of pilot and co-pilot.
You can see in the following picture of a "little bird" that there is plenty of room for a door-gunner...and supplies.

I picked this picture from a google search as it demonstrates how much compartmental space is actually in a little-bird. This picture is is of a Blackwater helicoptor in Iraq if I am not mistaken.
Instead of the crate or vehicle-bourne cache.....a limited resupply could be created that looks like the current rally place-holder.
It could be dropped from a limited height of around 10ft or so(in game) to simulate being dragged out and dropped by the co-pilot. Anything higher would destroy the resupply.(in game)
It would be beneficial to those squads whose SL doesnt have the officers kit, squads who didnt set a rally whose officer is dead....or many other scenarios. But to be clear....it would not serve as a rally.....ONLY a resupply!
I think it would have a place in game on many maps.
And it has realism.

Hm it would be very confusing for all the players if the ammo crates of the LB look like rally points.RCMoonPie wrote:Instead of the crate or vehicle-bourne cache.....a limited resupply could be created that looks like the current rally place-holder.

Enemies wont know if it is a RP no or ammo which they can take from the enemy. They will always destroy it!
I would say it should look like the ammo crates from Jeeps! Or maybe like the RPs from the russian (or what they are) insurgents!

I respectfully disagree....
Right now.....in the game already......you dont know if the ammo crate or vehicle cache was dropped by friend or foe. (unless you personally saw it dropped). Most people dont destroy these....they use them.
Besides.....the resupply (with the RP placeholder) would have its team's insignia on the packs.....you know.....like what is currently in game?
If the packs dont have your teams insignia on it.....destroy it.
If you are in an insurgency game.....you would know automatically that the cache was an enemy cache as the insurgents doesnt use the pack RP's.

Re: Littlebirds able to drop ammo bags
Guys i was talking about being able to drop 3 or 4 ammo BAGS. The same ones that riflemen carries, not a create like the Blackhawks or hueys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF2NvPMSrTg Have a look at that i know its blackwater not regular amry but same idea i think its around 2:55 that they drop ammo to a Sniper Team.

Yes I know that there is a team insignia in every RP, but thats the point.RCMoonPie wrote:

When the enemy has dropped a supply crate and defending there and you attack, and push him back then you are glad to see the enemies´ supply crate and use it.
But with the style of a RP you wont see if its just the enemy supply crate or their rally point you have to destroy.
So you captured the enemies position and have to destroy the ammo, because you dont know if its a rally point.

Re: Littlebirds able to drop ammo bags
well you could always make subtle differences, like maybe add a small star, or maybe only make the model two backpacks instead of three. There's always ways to make a model be similar but different at the same time, plus it will make it so that people are more cautious (at least i would be) about what they doNugiman wrote:Yes I know that there is a team insignia in every RP, but thats the point.

I personally like the idea of a drop off, maybe 1 per little bird
And multiple squads could do this, but it would only give CERTAIN limited kit, less than a normal RP.
An officer kit could be one, maybe a grenadier, marksman, and automatic rifleman, and maybe light AT.

I believe there is way enough resupply way at the moment, its not necessary to have lil bird drop ammunition at all.
If you manage to run out of ammo, you'r not managing it well and where is your supply squad member ?

Sure, in maps with black hawks or hueys you have enough ammo.Skodz wrote:I believe there is way enough resupply way at the moment, its not necessary to have lil bird drop ammunition at all.
But in e.g. Qwai River there are no big transport helos. You only have lbs there without ammo! Would be usefull if they can drop ammo too, because you have only some trucks and apcs there

I disagree with requestable kits, if you forgot your officer kit, tough tittys as they say, thats life, but maybe a bit of ammo i wouldn't be too fussed about.

If I go to it.....and It gives me supplies....its a supply point.
If I go to it.....and the other team begins to appear.....its an RP.
Either way I would destoy it.....this would just be common sense in an area I was sweeping clean.
