We all hate base rapers, espicaly the carrier and runway bombers. Why not put in some AI AA to stop planes wanting to go near unless a team mate takes them out from the ground? also maby let a real player still be able to push the AI out of the way and hop in the AA if he wants to use it? This could really have a really big effect on planes wanting to go near enemy airstirps/carriers and killing the other planes and ppl on the ground before they have a chance. Most ppl will not get in the AA, unless they see a plane about, so that means that the plane who is attacking has hte first acvantage of suprize. Then as soon as they are dead, the plane can mini gun the AA away and just contionue to carrier bomb them till he fianl gets shot down or he finds somthing els to do.

What u all think?

Interesting idea. But you would have to somehow specify the accuracy of the AI. Obviously he has super accuracy he'll take you down real fast.

Ive never really played aginst the BF2 AI before, so i cant tell there skill at the mo. But as long as they can do some damage to any pilot that will make them think 2x about wanting to go near the carrier.

And without researching this, dose real life AA on ships have AI ect? I think they do dont they? Can put them onto automatic to shoot down missles ect.

CIWS is fully auto-mated even ageis cruisers can work with out a crew.

i think this would be a cool idea as long as the AI isnt physical... meaning i dont want 2 spots on a 32 player map reserved for 2 bots ;)

but if that IS possible, id like to see maps with the Phalax system on the ground (i know it will look out of place, but it would be used until we got something different) inside of UCBs with AI in it. that way, you never have to worry about helis or jets flying in and around your UCB

the ai can´t run on client side, it has to be on server side
this will be put more load on the server and needs additional modification for the server files.
i like the idea too, but i think it is hard to get this to work.

why not include one of the "anti base rape scrips" into the server files of PR?

getting - points aint going to stop ppl Getting shot down will.

and this will only have to be for 3 or 4 bots. 2 on the carrier, and have some new AA type for the Air files.

Also riki you read me wrong, the server wouldnt spawn a bot player, the AA will auto have a invisibal AI allready in it at all times (unless a real player jumps in to take over). I dont know about how much CPU power a simpal AI would take up, but the server could allways have a bit to take it off, or put it on.

Sounds like an idea EA should have thought about after thousands of people whining about base raping...
Great idea Rhino, i hope we see it shooting at the base rapists soon!

not really. Ground troops will want to move on the point for sabotages ect, that is realistic. Base rapeing happens in real life. the point is if a aircraft flys over a enemy airfield, hes going to get shot down. This is also, realistic. In BF2 all they do is bomb the shit out of it.

Now what is more putting off, and what is a better defence, having AI AA or having - points that just kicks ppl from the server?

If the plane gets shot down he cant bomb them / he cant kill them. So he doesnt bother. If he forgets about the AI AA, he will soon remember as soon as he goes near it. But if he forgets about the - points, he just gets kicked.

Really, a anti base reap script is rubbish, Ive been on these servers, they are simply just gay. This is a much better and realistic solution in my eyes.

Yea this is the best idea I have heard in a while. This would cut down the base raping quite a bit.
