Another reason why I'll travel to America some day!zephyr89s wrote:Hello gents. I was amazed to receive information from a friend of mine that a BLACKHAWK had just landed behind the junior high school close to my house. apparently Army brass had some business at the armory adjacent to the junior high. classes are even taught to the youngsters in the top of this building, like history and math, ( the guns are in the basement.) I couldn't find my good digital camera and the battery died before I could film it taking off. here she is.
as you can see, there is a house in the background. this is a residential neighborhood.
It landed on the baseball outfield.
here are the seats in the back,
the cockpit,
and right in the middle of this picture is the small window where the minigunner would sit, (if there was a minigun attached.)

Nice photo's, I had a sea king land in the field just over the road from me, landed in the college field to show all the chav's what they could be doing instead of stabbing people. It was really freaking loud when it took off.

You're most probably a noob

(bethesda) and actually every weekend i see the presidentia helicopter flying over our house, it's obvious its that one, as the helo is in green has that symbol on it and flys extreeemly low compared to the other helo's flying around my area, i've already seen hueys and two blackhawks flying in formation from my room's window, and also a lot of these traffic helis... I don't know, maybe i live in a helicopter air traffic lane or something...
Oh, and btw, i've also seen a real BH in person and went into one at an airshow, and the one i saw had some kind of mirrors on top underneath the rotors, i guess they had something to do with AA countermeasures..
I live not far away from Yeovilton (Fleet Air Arm air base) and that's also right next to Westland helicopters (people who make the Lynx and other choppers) and see loads of choppers flying over my place, normally Sea Kings, Lynxes thou I do see the odd Apache around here too. Not many Chinooks thou. When I was doing Mechanical Engineering at collage the navy invited us all round there to check out there stuff etc, got to see all there stuff up close, got to sit in Lynxes etc, the harrier engine is huge, we got to see it sitting out on a work bench being work on
Also that thing you saw on the top under the rotors is called a Disco ball which is a electronic counter measure deceive and one of the new things we have added to the back hawk in .8

well "disco ball" is its nick name, not 100% sure on its full real name, but basically it sends out false IR signals or something that confuse incoming missiles or something like that.creepinshadow24/7 wrote:disco ball, i didnt think it was a that obvious name...
what does it do in r/l, how does it defend a BH? or is that top secret??

Re: AHH!! Real Blackhawk!
I had a Blackhawk land at my school as well.
As for in-game changes I support a quicker take off and the blackhawk should kick up more dust when it lands (there was a LOT of dust when it landed).
P.S. Armory under a school? That's amazing, assuming none of the kids find a way into it...
