Sniper Reform

Ok, firstly, not sure if all of this is possible, but what the heck.

To request a sniper kit, you would first have to have a spotter (limited kit for squad leader only.) This would make this squad already focused towards spotting, and allows the commander to utilize this unit more effectively.
The spotter kit would have the following:
-Knife
-PDW
-Carbine
-Smokes
-Ammo (Specifically for sniper if possible)
-Clays
-Soflam
-Grapple

The kit is almost the same as Spec ops, minus the explosives.

So now there is a Spotter in the squad, the sniper may be requested.
The sniper kit wouldn't change in anyway.

Hopefully this would enable true snipers.

This has been suggested so many times. i myself would love to have a spotters kit but i highly doubt it will happen. Next time use the search function.

Spotter kit should be optional, not forced. What happends if you feel like sniping but noone wants to be your spotter?

I would support having the spotter kit, but I would only allow 1 spotter kit and 1 Sniper kit per team. Four players dedicated to sniping is just to many considering that there are only 32 players per team atm.

special forces kit is as close to a spotter as your going to get

Just that the SF is supposed to carry out sabotage missions, not spot for a sniper.

I like the idea. Make sure to give him a ghillie suit, just like the sniper.

Like this idea, would prevent n00bs from using the kit at all and keep it for serious sniper teams.

Well, then you'd have to do something else than snipe or be a spotter yourself or play another mod (like wookie sniper mod), game or vBF2.

The only problem I can see with this is if your spotter leavs the squad/dk or dies and doesn't pick up the kit again, some sort of limiter should be aplied to the sniper then, like letting him use only a pistol or something until spotter is back. Or you could use a more drastic method of giving the sniper like 30 seconds to pick up another kit but that would give greefers an excelent oppertunity to tk without getting punished for it or so.

Tough luck.
Go spotter, hope someone joins, than negotiate taking turns.

Sometimes I feel like being a tank driver, yet no one will gun... does that mean I should be able to use the turret as driver?

When the sniper kit will be as powerful as a tank you can limit the piss out of it. But since its not, a spotter should be optional.

I dont think if your spotter dies then the sniper shouldnt get punished for it.Periode. i play sniper a lot and some times i have a spotter and sometimes i dont. You shouldnt limit the sniper to having to work with a spotter because at the end of the day someone has to want to be a spotter and thats not always the case.

complete waste & not really that useful. Use your bloody binocolurs and compass/attack marker if SL for christ sake.

As mentioned above, this has been suggested multiple times before.

SPecial Forces = Spotter. Plain and simple, Im pretty sure theres a vid with fuzzhead and dbzao using the sniper and special forces kits in such a way and it works out fine.
