I don't think you can gib in BF2 engine (gib = finish someone of who is down wounded so that he can't be revived)

That's actually been suggested before. It sparked quite a discussion. I think it's possible, actually, but I can't remember what came out of the discussion - whether or not the DEVs wanted to implement it. IRL you're not supposed to do that sort of thing, but, lets face it, it is done, and it would lead to some interesting new tactics.

In real life you would disarm any downed enemies and probably remove them from the frontlines.

I don't see that logistic to be implemented in BF2 or any other game, so the way of emulating that would be to make the downed enemies inoperable (gibbing). Seems rather odd to me to shoot off a whole squad and then they will lay around for up to some minutes for a revive.

I have an idea:
How would it be, if the Medic (or another soldier) can pull death soldiers to a safe location (maybe behind a wall etc.). Of course, he would be slower, but maybe that way is better. So, you have 2 ways, to revive your teammember.

It is possible now. In theory. Just push him using the new animation that also un-sticks people from the ground. If you do it often enough you should be able to push someone a few meters. But it wont be really useful though^^

Yes, pulling downed soldiers into safety before healing would be nice. But I doubt it is possible. Only seen it in community mods for RtCW.

The way it works now is semi good, you revive the soldier and he can then move by himself into a more secure area to be healed. It would be better if he couldn't see that well after being revived (to slow him down and make his fire less accurate).

How will the new downed soldier work in 0.8? There was a thread about it but I can't find it.
Seem to remember that the downed period was prolonged with a possible opt out function.

Yes. The man-down-time is quite long now, but the player can use the suicide button (renamed to "give up") to decrease the time so its just the normal respawn time, but is losing the chance of being revived.
