Re: battlefield2 code ?
its the entire engine its just not made to do some of the things they want to do. Its like wanting a car to fly its not built for it. Understand?

Re: battlefield2 code ?
There are things that the DEVs can't change because they don't have access to the source Engine, they can only modify a number of things that have changeable parameters (in ways I could have never thought even possible...thinking back on .2 and .3 to where it is now gives e goosebumps for the future). So in this regard, I don't think they actually KNOW what exactly is in the source coding itself.
Long story short, EA won't give them access to the engine, so they can't change the core of what the game is. Things like adding weapon-sway and changing the squad system (or fast-r....not gonna go there) require fundamental changes to the game itself if there were ever to be implemented.

sunshine1991, why not call up EA office and ask how much for the engine? Hack the "password"?

Re: battlefield2 code ?
Quote from my new bible:
Taking advantage of this ability to integrate with other languages, the Battlefield 2 game includes a core engine written in C++ that is inaccessible to developers (other than EA and DICE), and an embedded Python interpreter; non-EA/DICE developers are able to modify many aspects of how BF2 behaves, as well as add new behaviors, by modifying existing Python programs that are part of BF2, or by writing entirely new ones.

Re: battlefield2 code ?
The name of the engine is refractor 2 and it is possible to buy the rights to it, but it is expencive.
The DEVs have within their capability to change the code of the BF2 engine, but they are bound by legal contract into an agreement that they have agreed to not modify the Engine. That is what is holding them back, nothing else as far as i know.
IMO the other things that they cant put in due to engine limitations are not needed, and the game is fine, as is. All we need are realistic ballistics and bullet penetration that doesnt limit the game, the rest is fine.

For example, I could just go and legally crack a chocolate bar
sunshine, do some research.
We are talking about something totally different than removing copy-protection for game's exe...
