New Anti-Civilian Weapon

Post by EOD_Security-2252 »

Well, I looked through the "Already suggested" and I searched, and I couldn't believe no one had suggested this before -
Ok, everyone knows the knife is used to get Civilians because PR hasn't made handcuffs/zipties and even if they did, it wouldn't look like you were actually cuffing them. So, I thought of a substitute; why not give the soldiers Police Clubs? It's not 100% realistic, but I do recall seeing some Polish ISAF soldiers using police clubs to combat unruly civilians. I think the modern black plastic ones would be best. (Obviously this shouldn't be placed anywhere near the top of the "PR Dev's list of things to do" list. It's more of just an idea that would be cool if someone had free time)
What does everyone think?

While the clubs alone haven't been suggested, they have been suggested as part of Police kits and several re-equip threads.

I think the rifle should be the best tool against insurgency mode civilians. They are clearly aiding an enemy force and should be considered combatants.

was that what the thread was about? nope, has it been discussed to death, yes.

But yeah, it has basically been suggested, but yes, a replacement to the knife is definately needed. Tasers were my favourite suggestion :D

Tazers? Tackling? Mace? Flashbangs that stun civilians and incapacitate them for a certain amount of time? Don't know for sure but yeah the knife needs to go. Also an interesting twist would be to have civilians able to choose either side to be on (Brits or insurgents). How it could work is if a civi spots an insurgent cache location it reports it's location to Brits then the civi automatically gets switched over to the Brit side. Or maybe have he civis as their own "neutral" 3rd faction capable of spotting for both sides if they choose or just siding with one side. Yeah I know bf2 engine isn't having it I'm sure...but anyway.

Anything other than flex cuffs wouldn't be realistic. The knife is just a placeholder if you guys just get some patience eventually the Devs will put something in its place.

C'mon people, use your imagination, no need to saturate our item lists with extra weapons. The knife works fine.

What would be really awesome though is if they also let you kill civs with those engi shotguns that are only used for blowing stuff down. Oh noes you guys will have to use more imagination to imagine them being loaded with sandbads or something. This will take care of the civ in water problem and also stop them from running away but it won't be too over powered or long range and also would be limited to engies.

The way it seems to me, the problem with the civillian is the BF2 melee model that makes it hard to hit people with it, and the swimming civvie idea. Giving them police clubs wouldn't be a bad idea, as bludgeoning someone with a club is more realistic than stabbing someone to death to arrest them.

I said before that this wasn't a very important thing. Also, the flex cuffs won't be realistic even if the Devs do make them. Players will have to like run around and when the cuffs touch the civilian he will die, it won't look cool at all. It's pretty much impossible to have the civilian magically put his hands behind his back while the Coalition arrests him.

It's good to hear so many people like the idea. Thanks.

I like the clubbing idea but couldn't an arrest somehow be worked out to incorporate the new medic animations??

Check it out: Civi gets clubbed now he is down on the ground he gets thirty seconds of critically wounded.
The only way to make the arrest is to ziptie him before the thirty seconds is up kinda like the way the new medic preforms cpr before the eppy pen. Just with a ziptie instead of just hands only. Also when a civi gets clubbed he always goes down face first with his hands behind him so it looks like the zip tie is being wrapped around his hands!!

Just a suggestion though. CANT WAIT FOR .8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PR ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
