I agree with Chiz. This is a totally irrational statement. What you want is the stopping power/realiability of an AK47 and a M16's muzzle velocity/accuracy.

What you described would be a gun that takes forever to clean, jams a fair amount, does poor damage and has fair accuracy.

if i could combine 2 guns it wud be the SA-80 (For range/accuracy) and the Famas ( for reliability, plus its sexy).

I meant 6.5mm Grendel, not 6.8mm Remington SPC. My mind slipped for a second...

Anyway, rumor has it that this is the 'perfect' assault rifle round, combining the accuracy and muzzle velocity of 5.56mm NATO with the stopping power of 7.62x39mm, but I could be wrong. Yes, it was designed for the AR-15 platform, but isn't there some other weapon out there that could be chambered in 6.5mm?

Alexander Arms makes an M4 type weapon in two variants - one chambers the 6.5 Grendel and the other chambers a .50 Beowulf.

It's like $1500 or something, it's in a catalogue I have somewhere, but I can't find it.

I think PR is playing in the near future, so why should MEC change his weapon to an AK-47 or something like that. G3 is old, AK is older.
I like the G3, but if you really want a new weapon you should pick a more modern one.

I think since it's the MEC, that Israel is part of them. That being said, MTAR-21. Modern rifle, bull pup design that shoots 5.56 Could use the STAR-21 which is a designated rifle to replace the SVD.

huh, well looking at it, they would need a weapon with the range of the M16 and SA80 to balance the factions. 7.62x39 ammunition doesn't cut it. that type of ammo just doesn't fly far enough. If they were going to change the MEC battle rifle, id vote for the AUGA3.
