New to PR, Few Quick Questions...
Hey everyone, I just joined PR and havent actually downloaded the mod yet, so I was just dropping in to say hi. I did have a few questions though:
1. I have a Dell Inspirion 6000 Laptop with and ATIx300, I currently pay BF2 and BF2142, but will this be enough to run PR also? I run everything on lowest settings.
2. How many people in the world play PR ( and how many are playing at any given time)?
3. Are there any clans that I could join; I am a very good BF2 player, however I know that PR will be considerably different.
Thanks for the help and have a nice day. jay47

1. I'm no expert, but what i know is that PR is more demanding to the system than BF2 Vanilla. So with BF2 on lowest settings, you could get problems.
2. Well, its a mod after all, but one of the most played ones - if not the most played one - for BF2. You'll always find a few full servers.
3. There is a section in the forums about clans, you can try it there.
Oh, and 4.: Don't forget to read the manual and maybe do some practice on an empty LAN server before you first join a real game. Its VERY different from Vanilla.

1. i dont know for sure, not realy into the rigs lol
2. around 500 or even more
3. Yes, you can join clans, but clans mostly dont care how good you are a bf2. its all about how you can teamplay.
Welcome!

Thanks guys, I think I'll download it today and maybe play on some very small maps just to get used to it. I think I will much prefer the more realistic gameplay; I read the manual and I think the designers (you guys I guess) did a tremendous job at making teamwork essential, something I can really appreciate. Maybe there won't be as many noobs when they know it will take a lot longer to respawn (although there will always be "noobs",lol). good luck.

Way more than 500 play PR, come on. It's in the thousands. You see new names every day. That was an understatement.

1. looking at the specs of that Laptop you will have problems. Your short on your CPU, your RAM and your Graphics Card. Double what you have and you should be fine.
2. You can always find 1 or 2 80% full servers at any time of day.
3. heaps of clans getting around, but look into their history before joining.
4. READ THE MANUAL BEFORE EVEN PLAYING A SINGLE MATCH. (Playing single Player helps alot for new people)

Heres an important one. Do you own a mic?
If the answer is yes then you will find this game way easier to play and more rewarding.

You said "small maps" There are no small maps in PR. Unless you play 16 player ones on LAN. That laptop is not going to be able to handle PR. You need to be able to play BF2 and 2142 almost flawlessly on medium-low settings to play PR on it's lowest.

Re: New to PR, Few Quick Questions...
Your PC will run PR, don't worry too much about that.
What you might find though is that you'll suffere fairly horrific video-based lag on certain maps - many of the newest maps are very hardware-heavy.
In short, you'll just have to see what's playable for you and what's not. The amount of RAM your laptop has will have big part to play - with 2Gb you should be okay, any less and you'll find it's tricky to play with such a lows FPS.
Either way, give it a try - you may love the game so much you upgrade (like I did when I started playing - switched from a 2.6Ghz Celron to a 3.7Ghz Pentium 4, 512Mb RAM to 3Gb, GeForce 440MX to a GeForce 6600GT within a month of downloading PR for the first time).

Trust me you won't care if the game lags a bit ever now and then it's worth it to play PR with the great community and the teamwork it's realy addictive. Look on the positive side you have a laptop that means you can take your PR ever where you go (as long as their is internet avaliable)
